    Not so funny story.

Rented a brand new (93 miles) F150 V8, towed to VT (same trip as my first trip last year with the turbo), and it made it here, and then completely shit the bed upon first startup after disconnecting the trailer. Started as a chirp/scrape, and now it's a good awful screeching sound that is RPM related. Enterprise Truck Rental is trying to figure out how to get me another tow rig ASAP. The truck currently has 296.0 miles on it.

WTF! Makes me realize the abuse you put the tundra through last year and it took it with a smile on!

And here I was thinking the Ford was handing it all surprisingly well. Then it did what they do.

Also, I did rent a 3/4 ton and they put me in the brand new 1/2 ton.

We rented a brand new king ranch a few years ago. 500 miles on it. AC completely died. Brother in laws brand new ram with 2000 miles on it had a tailgate actuator short and take out several components and killed the engine while driving. I’ll stick to my basic old Tundra.

I wish I had a choice in what I got to rent. Thought a brand new tow rig was cool, until it wasn't. Well see what they deliver to me tomorrow. Just glad it made the trip fine and we're safe.

It'll be a surprise I guess. Replacement truck is being towed up so they can retrieve the existing. Not bad since we're nearly 4 hours away.

As in, they tow one in on a flat bed in order to flat bed tow the other one out?
That would make sense, logistically..... common sense just doesn't.....lol

Exactly this. I badged one vehicle into the campground, did the swap, and they left with a broken truck on their flatbed.

I went from a broken black 2025 F150 XLT with 296 miles to a silver 2025 F150 XLT with 336 miles. And I suppose this is why it's not typically a good idea to of purchase from these rental companies. I'm under their capacities, but def not outside of break-in period and I'm hauling 8k lbs through the mountains.

Ah, one trip one person instead of two.
Now that the F150 XLT broke down, be extra careful coming back.... and 8K is not exactly light.... especially through mountains....
