Would have to be a complete engine bay tuck most likely to fit a twin set up, maybe to smaller turbos underneath, but the complexity and cost wouldn't really bare in the market. Anyone wanting to do something like that, would just have is custom fabbed...

Did you end up using DEI wrap or sheathing on the wiring harness @TurboKits ? I noticed the coloring and texture against the firewall and was curious as well. lol

Its a whole 2x4ft sheet of the stuff, so I can cut it to length and different shapes and sizes... We'll see how it holds up. I intentionally went light on the wrapping to see how much was truly required.

Old girl getting transported in for her pending transplant. At least she still looks decent and luckily didn't get put away covered in salt.

I think you just convinced me to that I'll likely end up needing to spend another $15 for a new pill.

The Wholesale Automatics video floating around, at the ~17:25 mark, talks about their recommended running temperatures. Specifically, how they like 50 - 70* (Celsius), but how up to 80 - 90* is fine. Well, the Google box has informed me that this is 122 - 158* Fahrenheit. Your 145* is spot on in the middle of that range. Unsure if this is specific to Dex3 fluid or if it doesn't matter, but here I was thinking 145 was a little aggressive. Apparently the answer is NOPE!

To continue spreading the knowledge, for anyone who hasn't seen it, link: https://youtu.be/DyU3LIpA-Mg

You’re going to anger the transmission “moisture from condensation” alarmists.

Shhhhh! Don't call attention to it. :)

The 80-90 states as being "fine" aligns well with the factory transmission thermostat of 185'ish.

The 20:45 - 21:20 block is a pretty good summary.

The real stirring the pot question: Is the factory cooler adequate? :crapstorm:

It probably would be if the warming puck wasn’t heating it right back up! Might look into eliminating that…

I thought I had posted about this yesterday but maybe I deleted it because I needed to focus on work. This should give everything needed to identify the different components and their impacts to trans temps.

My transmission plan. Timeline is late April/early May for all:
    1. run it as-is for Stage 2 since I have never towed with it (bypassing the metal hardlines across the cylinder head and rerouting of the soft lines to the warming puck)
    2. warming puck bypass (but keeping factory trans thermostat in place)
    3. remove factory trans thermostat like @Mdl did and install Improved Racing 165* inline t-stat
    4. valve-body upgrade (initially this was going to be item #2, but I think this current list will give the tests comparable apples/apples comparisons to my logs from last year)

I'll probably do 1 hr of towing on the same loop I used for testing last year since I have hours up hours of logs for all of that. I'm with you in assuming the biggest impact will be bypassing the warmer, but logs will prove it.

Last year I ran all winter without a thermostat or warming puck. Temps were 20-35F and transmission varied between 120-160F. When I dropped my pan for the built VB I found no evidence of condensation/water(no analysis). I spoke with IPT and he was like where is the water coming from? He's never seen it. The Aussies would see it too.
Also my 2nd Gen high temp alarm is set at 257F. I saw the post saying later gets without cooler are set at 302F, to me that is crazy!
Factory cooler cooled 200F to 180F in about 1/2 mile, 50F outside.
Keeping on track with the thread...and a happy transmission will keep your turbo'd truck on the road.

Agreed, it just reminded me of this thread I started a while back. Clearly plenty of folks strongly disagree with WAT and IPT on the cool fluid benefits and this supposed “condensation” possibility. But hey, they’re just wrong. https://www.tundras.com/threads/is-it-safe-to-pin-open-transmission-thermostat.125500/

I completely forgot that thread was started by you. I've been referencing it for the paet numbers for the "delete kit" and then obviously about better ways to cool the transmission. I'm still sort of comforted to know that both of our trucks are operating about the same towing this specific trailer.

I need an adult. I’m playing with the scg1 trying to up the boost. I’ve gone from 10% wastegate duty cycle to 70% and my wastegate is still opening at the same 3.8-4.1psi of boost. What am I missing here? Wastegate has the 1psi and 3.5psi spring in it.

Did you check the video I posted above last week with the vacuum routing and WG hook up? Is the solenoid electrical connection connected and clipped tight? Pizza night with the fam, but call me tomorrow and I can go over all the setting and see if there is something going on. Thanks!

Helps to rtfm. Looks like I also need to adjust the spring pressure setting from 4.9psi to roughly 3.5psi so the solenoid knows when to open. Right now it’s waiting until it sees 4.9psi before it starts to operate.

Ok, cool, yes that can be lower than the actual spring rate, so it starts to take control sooner in the boost curve then right when the wastegate is trying to open. Don't be scared of 1 and then just use a bit more duty cycle.

I be around all day. Keep us in the loop!

Got boost up to 4.4-4.8psi today. Starting to cook and that turbo is starting to sing. More logs sent.

Since I decided to go with the Denso direct version of the Lexus coils (thanks again to the SC guys), I figured it made sense to reach out to @JustDSM about getting the dwell time adjustments built for my truck's read file. Knowledgeable, fast, and easy to work with about sums up my experience with Justin. Thanks, again @JustDSM

Just a small update but tuning is going great. Not certain what is being tweaked but the current rev has the turbo coming on like a freight train. Fast and hard. Love it. AFR’s are still about 11.8-12 so we are working on that. Aiming for mid 11’s without meth. KR is 0 and truck is in full learn. Fluid levels are good. Had some fun on the wet roads yesterday. Hit it a touch hard around 40 and that turbo came on and the tires went to spinning. I can see an LSD in my future this year.

Doing a 3hr road trip tonight on a route I’ve driven a thousand times with no head winds. Be a good test on mileage through this route.

Went from 10% duty cycle to 16% duty cycle today. Added maybe .5psi and totaled 4.8psi. Decided to jump to 22% duty cycle. Pushed it to 6.2psi. Truck was pulling like a freight train.
