Quick follow up the MAF sensor that @e30cabrio sent in. The board was fried, they said it looks like it was hit with 12v as was suspected. No real "news", other than verifying for those that may have wondered what happened.

Replacement pipe arrived and it dropped right in perfectly. Installed and clamps tightened in under 10mins. That thing is a work of art.

Decided to back mount the AEM controller on our 2016 TRD Pro project truck right under the gauge. It's cut and mounted from the back and then plastic welded into place as well. Going to look clean once everything is in place

Those AC gauge mounts are insane to me. 105* and I want that AC blowing exactly where I want it. Not just off willy nilly or blocked off entirely. They do look cool though.

It's not as bad as it looks. There's still air flow coming around it, but yeah... in 105*, I agree, it would not be a good choice. For us up here, it's fine, and honesty, the LC blower upgrade will quickly return flow to original.

Now I'll need to look and see if that vent is more visible than the left side. Nice having everything readily available in one spot, with zero questions asked. Can't wait to see everything finish installed.

I went with the left side vent since at least it seemed like the center vents had more airflow, but I could just be imagining that. It gets damn near 120 degrees in July and August in Phoenix and even though the gauge blocks some of the airflow and you can no longer adjust the direction it really hasn’t been an issue at all. I would still take the same route again.

I like that it it is such a clean and discreet install. The left side is where I chose but I won't lie, it sometimes is hidden a little too out of the way. That said, I still like it better than a traditional pillar install. Lots of time to sort it all out, but I am liking seeing all of the options being revised. I'd love a HUD option someday.

Looks great! I made mine near that area. I drilled a hole in the front to access the test button if needed. I installed a removable plastic cover to cover the hole. The fuse can be removed if necessary by pulling the controller out slightly. Initially, I added a rubber grommet around the controller mount border, but in my opinion, it was too wide. I'll add a thinner rubber grommet to see if it fits better.

here is the rubber grommet I want to replace. A 3D printed base is also an option.

    Another option for the gauge.

I'm with centex, the vent gauges baffle me. This is still the best spot imo.

The 1” spacers solved 99.9% of my clearance issues. I think a 1.25” spacer would be perfect but for now I can use my entire turning radius.

That's huge for baselining. Thanks for sharing, and I'm glad to see you are running very similar values to what I've historically seen, especially on the IATs and ECTs. Just confirmation that neither of us are anomalies. That's comforting in a way.

    //

I'm completely envious of all you people who run that low on the trans temps. That's just never, ever, been my reality. 190's consistently to maybe 203 these days at highway speeds, high 180s with speeds down below 60MPH. I know 10% isn't a huge swing, but I'd prefer to be at the floor of that swing, not the ceiling like I am.

    Enjoy the journey

4* temp delta from that massive FMIC... Nice! :) and that's what is actually being fed to the motor, as there is nothing between the reading and the engine that would increase IATs!

I’ve seen it touch 199-200* ect a couple of times but that’s it.

On another note, if the cel is on the cruise doesn’t work. Gonna be a long trip.

I didn't get the improved racing thermostat. I did install a 160 deg pill in my Derale thermostat. Temps ranged from 165-194F. Ambient was 45F out. I did see a 200 deg TC temp when I was WOT for 3 runs. I am debating on just keeping it or dropping down to a 145...

Did you bring your laptop? Shoot me the code and some logs and I'll adjust! Could be the trims learning back the other way from the downpipe issue.

I did get the Improved Racing thermostat, but I've had zero cycles to do anything more than open the box and say "ah! this makes so much more sense now" as I looked at the design of it. Rumor has it my motor should be getting machined this week and/or next, and then built the following week, so soon enough I'll be back to the party with updates to share on all of that. Bypassing the heat exchanger and getting rid of those lines all together will stop the cooler and the puck from fighting each other. I have the elbows here as well to accomplish that. I'm hoping this also allows me to completely remove all coolant from that up pipe area. While it is all well managed at this point, it'll be nice to likely get rid of those tiny 5-10* spikes I was obsessing over last summer. Thanks again for your trail blazing and for steering me in the right direction on the pill swaps on the thermostats.

I did and I’ll send them when I get to the hotel. I did a couple of 4th gear pulls and it was holding 11.3. I also got some cruising logs.

Yup in the video it runs quite well????? the gauges were maxed on temps and what ever else. I am sure the engine is toast but I truly do not think they really cared!!:) HA!!! Some of his videos are hilarious!
