Actually I could not hear his running while in boost. It was cold though and windows were up. Even outside I couldn’t differentiate between the engine and the turbo. I hope to hear it at least a tiny bit along with the blow off valve?:)

Looks like the passenger side might be done but that one piece sitting there open to nothing????? :)

I’m am sure we will see it completed.

I’d also like to see some sort of filter box to help keep some of that heat and iat down. That engine bay is going to get real hot.

Agreed, hopefully there is more to the filter setup than that photo. That will work fine for getting some good numbers on the dyno with the hood open but not real world. The air will be 150 degrees going into the turbo, so by the time it goes through the turbo with no intercooler on a stage 1, woooweeee that’s cookin.

Just had a quick talk with him about the heat questions and I’ll let him explain more but the short of it is with that turbo blanket in there and everything they have wrapped and Heat taped he is not worried about the heat one bit. Said with a full pull and at 500 plus horsepower running with the blanket on there you can touch that area with no problems.

They should have it running today then to tune it and dyno. After that Stage two. Will be a few days to tune and then dyno.

The open pipe is where the waste gate will be plumbed, but they still have to mount the cat also (there in the box).

Stage two reroute intercooler and piping.

Everything is plumbed and almost ready to start. Wiring and fuse box will be taken care of too.

    From TurboKits/Jesse

Stage 1 will use chemical cooling via Water Meth Injection, the IATs will actually be more consistent than an intercooler. I am not concerned at all, we are not testing theory at this point, it’s been on my truck for 2+ years, just testing final fitment and building instructions. In your case it’s a moot point as you’ll have the intercooled stage 2 set up in the end!

Ah ok. Water meth injection is a key component I didn’t see mentioned earlier on the stage 1 kit.

Well I agree on that point but open air filters in the engine is sucking in “hot” air. When you get it done monitor those Iat temps and let us know the numbers.

I’m sure when he gets some time he’ll have some more to add??? Maybe??:)

the Stage 2 will be with intercooler and the watermeth system.

I’ve seen plenty of turbos setup with filters like that. Most run intercoolers. Glad to see they are doing water/meth as that will help a ton but that wasn’t mentioned earlier and now you are going to have to keep an eye on fluid level. Easiest way is to use the windshield washer fluid bottle and just use washer fluid to inject. That is, assuming the tundra tells you when that gets low. Normally water meth is a supplement and not a full time intercooler. Only time it should be on is under boost but still. It’s nothing new. I’ll be watching how this unfolds but I’m leaning towards stage 2 for a more practical daily.

This is correct under boost but the intercooler will be all the time. Trying to load a clip of the engine starting but it’s to big!

One question I’ve been wondering is how much boost can the factory plastic intake manifold handle on a daily basis with something like this?

Prospeed is working on a turbo kit for these trucks too but it replaces the manifold with a metal one. It will also probably be more like 15k if I had to guess. I believe XAT racing makes a metal intake manifold for our engines for the purpose of adding a turbo but it’s literally 5 grand for just the manifold.

If it’s made anything like an LS intake you’ll reach the limit of the rotating assembly before the manifold.

Here is the Prospeed turbo setup. It has an integrated air to water intercooler. It will empty out your wallet though I’m sure, if they bring it to market as a kit.

    Here is a reply

We have been turboing Toyota vehicles with plastic intake manifolds for 17+ years, for the lower boost we are running 6-8 PSI, should not be an issue and never has in the past, with some plastic intakes handling 15-20 PSI! I am not concerned… and our kit will be WAYYYYYYYY less than $15k! LOL

“and on the stage 2 that will change also?? I Think???? with the piece I showed above”

Completed engine bay!! Looking good. I’ll work on the video if not Jesse can post one. It isn’t much just a 5.7 starting and can’t even hear the turbo even when he gave it some gas!:)E3DEEEA3-E1EF-45AD-8225-56A4E02B9BB5.jpg

Now they are hard mounting the water meth system towards the cab in the bed of the truck. Grommets and hoses and sealer all will be used. I had to ask a couple questions about that and decided to mount it that way I can keep it on there for the Stage 2

He said normally he would trim up the top piece to get it at 100% but since we/they will be moving on to Stage 2 he didn’t!! Looks nice under there!!:)5D107BCA-412E-4F60-AD54-AA3C0D4718AC.jpg
