That seems like a ton of turbo for a kit intended to make 400 to 500 whp. Those at 1200-1300 hp turbos.

It’s just one Turbo and to me it really wasn’t that big. But the picture is the kit that will be sold as a bolt on. The stage one is pretty much done he just didn’t have a newer Tundra to write the directions about. His Tundra has been taken apart so much there is nothing to it. He wanted a real world Tundra to address any problems that might pop up.

The stage two will have to be cut pipe piece it weld it pretty much start from ground zero. They have a Turbo wizard over there that builds everything from cars up to the full on drag strip vehicles and a guy that is everything Tundra for the tuning part. I will be going crazy about the 4th week if it takes that long. Everyone had like three weeks to get ready and that is what they did. The work starts Thursday and the stage one and it should should be a smooth process, he has like two dozen kits all ordered up and some of those are spoken for I believe when he releases the kit sometime after the first of the year. I was glad to see the MAF bracketed 4.5 pipe all ready for the stage two. His truck even in boost was not obnoxiously noticeable, I was surprised?

Will also have a boost gauge I can dial in the boost. I explained I just want “it set it and forget it”!!:) keep it simple. Also going to have them put the water meth system in which is in the box on the left.

when work starts tomorrow pictures will be sent and I will be kept in the loop about what is taking place,, without getting in their way from way down here??Ha!:)

OH YA!! FYI the shop has a 22 SR5 Tundra CrewMax. I inquired about that because I saw it had not been moved for awhile. I asked a bunch of questions about that and I was informed he has a set of Turbos on order that are bigger than what comes with the new Tundras and when they get here he is going to put them on the 22 Tundra. That should be interesting for y’all with the newer engine model for the 22s!!:)

I'm curious as to what the cost would be for this kit. If it's truly pretty much plug n play, I'm ready right now to give them money. LOL

Great success or tremendous disappointment. Not really any middle ground on this one. I’m on the edge of my seat with a credit card in hand…and the CFO a giving me “the look”.

Whatever this forum told me to do
I suspect this will be a awesome pkg

not super duper monster hp…. Just an ample boost to a great platform

a turbo 5.7 is ideal for most applications

and… it’s easy to add more boost when Diderot comes to town- and he will

I will be watching the cost and stability of the turbo over SC.
Given the V8 no longer is available, I prefer not to blow it, even if that means no additional power.
But honestly in Houston, great driving skill out-weights the need for additional power, unless you are at a drag strip, which then all odds are off the table.

Didn’t this company post up a few weeks ago with pictures and prices for stage 1 and 2? I went back and looked and cannot find it now. I thought it was in General Supercharger thread.

I’m struggling to see the purpose of these large turbos on their kits. Wouldn’t a smaller one that maxes out at 700-800hp have MUCH better response on our 5.7 engine? Most guys aren’t looking to build the engine to utilize a 1100+hp turbo.

If I am out of line here, can someone clarify the turbo sizing to this simpleton?

This is an exciting time for Tundras. I would have seriously considered a turbo before I joined team Harrop.

The Turbo is not big at all. I posted the size above a few posts back. It is specific pick for the application.

Mine went 295hp, 321tq on Dynojet. All stock besides TRD intake(doesn’t add power) and 34” tires. Your numbers might be higher because of the exhaust.

This turbo is actually a good size for this displacement. Turbo tech has come along way especially in the 60-70mm frames. They spool quickly and hold power no problem. It’s all in the tune also.

Morning guys, I know, we're late to the party... The holiday week and the frenzy of sales during it, kept us VERY busy. Anyway, let see if we can answer a few of these questions

    1) Turbo Size: It's purely the flow of the motor, anything with a smaller wheel size, especially on the turbine side, would likely restrict flow and performance, especially with how the Toyota motors breath. Plus, since the kit will be designed to run a standard T4 based turbo, the options are limitless really for anyone that wants to dial their power in on different parts of the power band.

    2) Price: We have not solidified the pricing yet, we will be able to, after this install, have a 100% complete parts list, with no surprises and will release the price on the stage 1. We fully expect it to be a no brainer price point for the HP gain compared to other options on the market.

    3) Pipe & Turbo Weight: Yes the uppipe / turbo mounting pipe has a beefy bracket built into it. Keep in mind, we aren't testing theory on Ken's truck, we are purely using it to creat a from scratch install guide, which would have been difficult to do on our test mule, as the turbo has been on an off multiple times, and with various design changes. But, we have had this set up on our test tundra for over 2 years and 20k+ miles, long highway driving, daily, snow, trail and off road, it has been consistently tested in multiple environments.

    4) DYNO#s: Ken's 2021 Truck, 6K miles, Intake & Exh, stock crank HP = 381/401, figure 15HP or so from the intake an exhaust, deduct 15-20% for the DYNO loss and the #s are right in line. The good news, it's a tad irrelevant to our testing, as what we are looking to compare are the before and after #s, the delta / gains. So we will be running both the stage 1 and stage 2 DYNO tests on the same exhaust DYNO with the same settings. We easily expect 25-30HP per PSI out of the 7675 turbo.

    5) Reliability and longevity of the drivetrain: Our development mules has 225K miles on it, and we do NOT test it lightly. We put a pretty solid beating on the truck, consistently. Also, one of the reasons we love Toyota platforms. They make a hell of a motor. We have been making turbo kits for various Toyota models since 2005. Not to mention when Toyota redesigned the Tundra for the 2nd Gen, they were gunning at Ford, Chevy, Dodge and it was a MUST to overbuild it for the American market to take Toyota seriously in this arena. So in our opinion, the Tundra is way overbuilt, in a good way, and we do not expect any issues from the added power.

    6) Oil to the turbo: Traditional oil feed from the oil pressure sending unit, via a Tee and drain back to the pan, standard stuff, pretty much on ANY turbo kit for 20+ years. The turbo on our truck has stayed bone dry (meaning no oil in the housings, no smoking etc) since it was installed.

    7) MAF size: The stage 1 runs a 3.5" MAF, good for 4-5 PSI 100+ HP gain. The stage 2 will run a 4.5" MAF pipe for the higher boost and power levels it will be capable of.

    8) Stage 1 -vs- Stage 2: The stage one kit will be a simple bolt on, stock fuel system (HP tuners) 4-5 PSI set up. The stage 2, since we are overrunning what the stock system can handle, will require at minimum injectors, but we would suggest injectors and pump. Again, all of this is not theory, this is what we have been testing on our in-house dev mule for quite some time.

Hopefully that addresses all of the questions. Anyway, lots of work to do, so we'll check back when we have progress to report.

    Thanks!

Is it possible to order the stage 1 with the intercooler? Id hate to see IAT’s when it’s a 110* outside.

And I forgot about the intercooler!! That’s another part going on. I saw one on a Tundra and it looked nice, it was a solid mounting job up front.:)

they will be changing the fuel pump and injectors for the Stage 2…:)

?? So am I! Stage 1 should go quickly I hope, they will have to tune it and do a dyno once things run correctly. Then the Stage 2 which will take a bit because they do not have pipe made for it? I would think we will hear some news today?

@TurboKits.com Have you guys done any towing testing with the Stage 1 or stage 2 setup? I know I’m not the only one wondering. Do you foresee any reason that adding one of your kits would make it no longer recommended to tow up to the approximately 10,000 lbs these trucks are rated for? The EGTs and IATs are what I’m wondering about when pulling long hills under boost. Would it be recommended to have a separate towing specific tune if the user tends to tow heavy over long distances?

An intercooler would for sure be needed then but I don't think EGT's would be a concern unless the exhaust housing is super tight. A towing tune wouldn't be a terrible idea. I'd be monitoring transmission, oil, and coolant temps for sure. I don't have any experience with towing with a turbo'd gasser but plenty with stock and modified diesels. I rarely watch the EGT gauge with the diesels and just keep my eye on the other fluids. Engine starts to bog and the EGT's will shoot up, I'll downshift it and that generally lowers the EGT's back down.
