It is boost activated and it is metered by the amount of boost. If you are not in boost then it is not running.

some articles state it lowers temps by up to 50 plus degrees if I remember correctly

So you said if some owners don’t want to take the jump… I am following closely and want more details on where to get it installed and price. Keep up the good work!

To me it is way more less complicated than adding a super charger. Any good mechanic shop is able to do the work. It will come with instructions just like the supercharger. The spark plugs are the only thing to change on the engine on the Stage 1. The wiring of the water/meth system is the only other detailed addition, the rest is pretty much bolt on.
The Stage 2 is when new injectors, and a new fuel pump would be added along with the intercooler.

oops I probably should have let Jesse answer that. If I messed up anything he will fix it!:)

So just about the same as a SC purchase and install. Looking at everything under the hood I would be in trouble fitting a Stage 2 kit

Not sure how this is less complicated than the supercharger install. Not buying that.

The stage 1 probably is. Remove exhaust manifolds, install new manifolds and piping, connect to intake, install water meth. That's pretty simple. The stage 2 with the fuel system and intercooler is probably about the same.

Stock headers remain in place... So you don't even have to remove those (on either stage of the kit) :)

Now that's interesting. That really simplifies things. I'm thinking a stage 1 with an intercooler would be the bees knees for most users.

Is it up to the end user to acquire custom tuning for the turbo kit, or is there a base file utilizing tuning software such as HPtuners with credits and a flash tool provided in the kit to get it on the road like supercharger kits have?

We have a 2007-2021 base maps, you will need HPT or a local HPT tuner to flash and adjust the file to your exact truck set up, location, fuel, etc... But It won't be a from scratch scenario. The HPT & Credits will not be included in the kit, as we do not want to lock people into buying something they may have already or a friend or a local tuner that can do it...

That’s cool. So buyers should count on spending around $600 if they’re going to buy the HP MPVI2 tool and credits to tune it themselves or have a remote tuner handle the tuning, and whatever the tuner charges ($500-800). Or alternatively just take it to a tuner and have it tuned but not have the ability to data log or make adjustments on their own.

One would assume if you are getting it professionally installed, that the base map loading and tuning would be part of the deal. HPT is a widely used and known platform, there should be a tuner on every corner really.

Being in the same local area as you, I know what you really mean is there are tuners around….Whether or not they have any interest in tuning your tundra is another story.

That’s what I meant. Nobody wanted to touch the Tundra tuning aspect. And my install shop doesn’t touch HP Tuners on anything.

Not many that actually do Tundra's. I have a hard time finding one that does HPT for my Durango. Majority are LS or Ford houses.

Luckily Houston has a couple of nice tuning houses. Pietz & Prospeed.

I played hell trying to get a place to put in my gauges....much less a 3rd party turbo system.

You need to explain to them you are getting a base map that came from a fully tuned Tundra and all they need to do is load and adjust... They are probably thinking they have to build from scratch...

+1 for remote tuning. Literally doing that right now with OTT. It's not hard. Just follow the on screen prompts. Flashing the truck is basically the same as updating any computer component firmware.

I inquired with OTT about simply scaling the MAF on my otherwise complete tune I’d been running for over a year and 7k miles when I switched to a larger intake. I thought it would be a cheap minor adjustment. They refused to modify another file and said they can’t verify that the tune they are modifying is safe so they wanted to charge me $750 to start from scratch. I guess it depends what level of liability the tuner you’re dealing with is willing to accept.

It’s fine to start from scratch, I’d just be prepared for remote tuners to not want the base file and want to do it on their own. You can get it tuned one way or another, I’d just be prepared to pay full price for the tune is all.

Ha Ha, it's really not hard to stay out of boost on a set up like this. We were doing a turbo project on a Hyundai Genesis V6, single turbo, similar configuration to the Tundra, albeit a smaller turbo for the smaller motor, but we had to wait almost 4 months for the tuner to fly out from Korea to tune it. At the time, the customer, whom was also a close friend of the companies. Daily drive the car 20+ miles to and from work. Of course this was the 3rd or 4th project we had done with him, he was in fact a tuner himself, so he understood in depth what was going on, but he managed 4 months / 4K miles without a tune...
