You get the brake to work in both top and bottom, with the blinker only running the top, and I'm in.

 

I like that too...

Low brightness parking lights top and bottom.
Brake top and bottom.
Top turn signal with the off side top and bottom brake...



As much as the OP's video had me sporting wood, I'm not digging the amber turn signal..

 

Same, even though I know that amber signals are "technically" safer.

 

Yeah, I know there have been times driving in pouring down rain, amber cuts through a lot better and has probably saved me a few times from getting rear ended.
Also really want to match my Tacoma set up

What you are describing will take some more innovation on the harness, buts it’s doable.

 

Not my fault good taste is hard to please.

I am just happy to be getting stuff that keeps the stock housing, honestly. I don't have markers in my mirrors (always hated those) so option A will likely be what I go for.

So option B will the upper and lower both act as turn signal AND brake. The original reverse is retained. Turn signal gets priority. So let’s say I am turning left and turn on the turn signal, both upper and lower of the taillight flash. If during that, I press the brakes, the left continues to flash, and the right illuminates the upper and lower bright and solid.

And then maybe an option C would be the upper portion is both turn and brake? So in the above turn scenario, the top portion of the left begins to flash, then when the brake is tapped, top left continues to flash, while bottom left is illuminated bright as well as both upper and lower of right side?

 

In multiple choice options C is always correct, right?

This option B would be awesome. i also like option A because of the amber. statistically, drivers see and react to amber better than red turn signals. but if both upper and lower flash as turn signals then i may go with option B coz it'll match my boost auto mirrors. lol

 

My mirrors are red but I may end up going with Option A.

 

yea im really digging the ambers. im still leaning toward option A.

 

I bet you will lol. I just saw a Mustang that had red tails and a small amber on the mirrors. It didn't look bad other than being a Ford.

 

If anything it will grab peoples attention having the different colors in different locations.

That's what I am thinking. I would only want Option B if both were turn and tail on each side, not just a dim/bright feature of a single signal on each side.

 

I've been wanting something like this forever. Meso Customs was working on something but I guess he never finished it or gave up. I was really hoping to just have a harness mod and retain stock bulbs besides the switchback amber/reverse. My question is though is if these are obnoxiously bright or not. I absolutely hate being behind cars with obnoxious aftermarket LED tails, especially ones that strobe when they hit the brakes. Id totally be down for this but just dont want it to look ricey.

 

will you be offering wiring kits if you already have upgraded to full LED bulbs in the back? I already have resisters on the turn signal bulb.

These wont flash, but they will be bright. The VLED does a really good job of filling out the housing, so it looks good though, IMHO based on other cars I have had them in. The issue with retaining stock bulbs is the turn signal (top of the taillight) is a 921 bulb, which is a single filament bulb. So it is just 100%/OFF, no dim for Parking light. That can be added via some additional hardware, but getting the 921 and the 3157 to match intensity is another issue. So you could make a full harness option, but it would just be both top and bottom for brake, and then bottom only for parking lights.

 

Yeah I knew that they wouldn't flash, just wanted to point out my distain for too bright lights. Having super bright tail lights is just as bad as someone driving around with their high beams on or rear fog light. I really like the concept of this mod, just dont want to become a part of the group of people I hate.

 

I'm running LEDs in all 3 bulbs of my stock tail lights.
They are indeed much brighter than stock incandescent bulbs, but not blindingly so.

The option A and possible B would be fine.
They certainly don't need to be any brighter..

If the parking lights are too bright, the ham-and-eggers will think you have your brakes on all the time.
They don't have the smarts to realize your 3rd brake light isn't on..

 

We can buy amber Muths for $200ish.
Then maybe sell the red ones on the forum..

My biggest want is having top and bottom parking lights, like the Chevy/GMC.
It doesn't make sense Toyota didn't do this in the first place when they redesigned the 2014..
