I think that either is a massive improvement over the stock config, but I cannot possibly decide until I've seen both functioning side by side.

Crack that whip more, @memario1214 !

First production-ready version of HotTails (Option A) is currently running on my Tundra as of yesterday! So those waiting for HotTails should have some tracking numbers next week (and the couple of guys in WA might even have them in hand by Halloween)! I'll spend a day this weekend assembling bulbs. Option B prototype v2 is done, but I won't get a chance to really mess with it till next week. Trying to make sure there's a way to consistently replicate the desired behavior without introducing a logic circuit which not only adds time from trigger to bulb on, but also complexity and money. Relatively confident we can make this happen though.

    Now... ONTO THE TEASER!

The stock tail light config didn't bother me until you posted this thread. Damn you. :fistbump:

I mean, I've never been a fan of the stock tails as they are, but at least the lighting pattern never factored in lol. These would look great in my blacked out housings...

I actually plan to do a light smoke similar to yours on my own rig. I've now got PLENTY of output so having reduced output due to the filter atop halogen bulbs won't be a concern.

I didn't smoke mine, I actually cut them open and painted out all the chrome except the reflector bowls. Light output shouldn't be affected since I didn't touch the lens.

    That looks really good

I might have left the reverse bucket alone personally but I dig it.

I was thinking the same thing. If I crack a set open I'll paint the outer portion, but keep the interior section chrome. That's me full-on armchair QBing a cool mod though for my application down the road.

I did another set a while back like you’re saying, leaving the sidewall chrome alone. Those looked good too, but I prefer the newer ones.

I have a solution for this. The reverse light tap for the Meso hitch pod @memario1214 sales will work anytime the truck is put into reverse, regardless of what the turn/hazard is doing. All still plug and play, and if anyone is behind you when you put the truck in reverse, there is a good chance you’ve already blinded them with your brake lights and turn signals, so they won’t even notice the hitch light….

Nice! What issue was Option B having initially? I'm wondering if I should go with A and not worry about the mirror color lol.

The "issue" that option B was having initially was that the brake/turn signal weren't BOTH pockets. Ex... Parking lights will be top and bottom light (low power). When parking lights are on and you step on the brake ONLY the lower portion goes to high power similar to what you get now. When you would do the turn signal only the upper portion of the light would cycle between hi-power and low-power. Hopefully that makes sense.

Ideal function IMO would be that both upper and lower portion would perform turn as well as brake functions.

That problem scenario is exactly what I'm after.

I don't like brake and turns being shared in all aspects. The perfect set up to me would be park and brake for top and bottom, but blinker only being the upper bulb.

With all these changes and better bulbs. How is the illumination when reversing? I've been debating a tailgate light strip (does brake, reverse, turn signal) but the more I see your product the more I'm tempted....

So the backup bulbs in your OEM tails come in around 450 raw lumens ea. The white (reverse) output of our bulbs here are rated at 900 raw lumens ea. Will you have a true doubling of your light output? Probably not as there will always be a % loss due to the optics of the taillight itself, but it will come close. It would be a noticeable jump for you though.

I just drive a lot in the evenings and have a bad back, so I relay a bit on the back up camera and wish more was visible. Sounds like these will help with the field of view as seen at night. Appreciate the quick response.

It takes roughly four times the lumens to appear twice as bright to the human eye.

As much as I want this, I'm gonna try to hold out for option B.
Unless option A can be offered a sub option for a red turn signal instead of amber.
I can't justify another $200 to buy amber Muth mirrors.
My mirror and tail lights MUST match..:eek2:

I now understand why just a harness can't be offered.
I didn't think about the limitations of the top 921 socket/bulb on the top..

Thanks for the help and effort @memario1214 for getting this done.
