Yeah that might be the most annoying part about buying cars at auction, besides the stress of the actual auction lol. When I was looking for an Outback, I had tons saved, and like you said, some never came to auction.

I hope you were able to use your buddies account assuming he has a business fixing up cars. Otherwise those fees for private buyers definitely stacks up. I think I won my Outback for $3500, and it was almost another $800 after all the fees.

I have watched Copart for years now. My problem is that I have a two car garage that I converted into a wood shop and was up to my butt in alligators with a remodel. That sucked up all my time. Last year we started to develop a plan to build another garage when we got evacuated because of a forest fire. Our neighbor died and I am the executor to his estate. Two months later my mother died and I am the executor to her estate so I am still up to my butt in alligators just with a different goal. I am going to build another garage more geared towards automotive stuff but because of county code, joining two lots together, getting plans drawn up and approved by the county it looks like we are looking at fall and possibly winter. Until then I will just watch your build and enjoy that.

That is fantastic. A $14k truck with regular fees definitely would have hurt. Good thing you had that hook up. I'm looking forward to the progress

Good for you! One small suggestion: Sea Foam in the crankcase!
