@Roman, just need to know if this Is doable. I want to get the cement bulge and cement surround with the black 2019 Pro Grill. All good to go on my 2018 Tundra?

Sure, just have to have the surround painted on the Pro grille at a local body shop.

Hopefully not hijacking here, but does anyone happen to have the 2019 TRD Pro Grille with the chrome surround and bulge? I would love to see the look installed and I haven't come across one in cruising around here...

A lot of guys swap the chrome out when doing the 2019 pro grille. But @Anxietycafe kept his chrome I believe when he swapped grilles.

Are all the 2018 and 19 honeycomb grilles the same color? Toyota site says the 2019 Platinum gets a black honeycomb grille. Are they black on the Platinum, because this thread says there is no discernible difference between honeycomb grilles and my 18 SR5 TRD doesn’t look black. Wondering if I buy 18 Platinum grille and surround if the grill would be a different color.

I go into detail on that very thing under the heading 2018+ Grille options in this thread: https://www.tundras.com/threads/ultimate-oem-toyota-parts-thread.10707/

I know you do and I’ve read it over numerous times. Very informative. It does explain that up the 2018, the Sport, SR5 and Platinum grilles look the same, which look gray. My question is if the 19 Platinums have gone to a black honeycomb grille now since it states that on the full specs list on Toyota.
So future grille purchases from 19 Platinums would be black possibly.

Part numbers have not changed for 2019 models. All 2018+ grille options remain the same.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ It looks black some times, and other times it looks dark gray. I think it depends on lighting and whatnot.

This may have been asked and answered before, but I couldn't find anything in a search. Maybe it's a silly question...
The TSS Emblem in the 18+ honeycomb grills, is there a black version? For those waging the war on chrome and those who want to customize the grill emblem without sacrificing the TSS or jumping through all of the hoops to go to a Pro insert, Is there an option other than the chrome emblem?

Unfortunately, there is only one option for that emblem from Toyota.

Here is a dumb question, the 2018 TRD Sport grill in MGM, is it a direct swap for a 2018 SR5? If buy it and the hood bulge, I get a color matched surround, bulge, TRD Sport grill, plug and play? I believe that is what I am reading in the other thread.

Just got my 2018 Tundra and am trying to get the front end dialed. Have read through this post and a lot of the other threads, but just want some reassurance that I'm understanding correctly. So far, I swapped the stock insert out with a 2017 TRD Pro insert/surround and had the hood bulge and surround color matched Calvary Blue. I did this, unfortunately, before reading about all of the extra hoops I'll have to jump through to make my TSS work. So, I believe I have three options:

    1. Buy a Jomax mount.
    2. Epoxy the TSS sensor to the surround of my current setup as suggested in this post: https://www.tundras.com/threads/2018-tss-with-trd-pro-grille.21120/
I have my doubts that the sensor will work long term through the surround though...
    3. Put my stock insert back on but swap to the color matched surround. This my least desirable option aesthetically, but sounds like it might be the cheapest.

Thanks in advance for the help.

That's pretty much your options. Unfortunately, I can't be of too much help because I don't have any hands on experience with performing this swap, and to my knowledge, it hasn't been done all that much either.

@Roman I have a 2018 limited in quicksand and would like to put the platinum/TRD sport grill to color match. I noticed you don’t have the quicksand in those grill options, my questions are 1) is there a difference when ordering the grill between the platinum and TRD sport? 2) my plan is to buy any color cause I like the black honeycomb grill finish, is there an option for unpainted or is there a certain color to order that would be easier to take to a body shop to color match the surrounds to my quicksand color?

    1) Nope, no difference.
    2) From my experience, body shops prefer painting over black. There is not an option for unpainted.

    Roman,
Dude,...I'm still confused. (shocker, I know!)
    I'm trying to understand your terminology. I have a 2014 1794. Is 1794 the same as a limited/platinum?

If I wanted to do a black grill, surround, and hood,...what will I need?

    Thanks so much!!

I'm in much the same boat. @Roman or anyone else, why isn't this an option:

    4. Buy a '19 TRD Pro grill which should have TSS mount???

I have an 18 and put the 17 pro grille on. I used the Jomax, and so far the TSS features still work with no errors. As you can see the sensor is pretty unobstructed. The Jomax seems well built.....not perfect in how it holds the sensor, but it gets the job done.24151249-004C-4DC2-B0D6-F2955CF2A7C0.jpg

Hello @Roman I'm about to pull the trigger on pro-grille-setup, my truck it's Attitude Black 218... closest choice when ordering it's Standard Black 202 it's this matte black or glossy? Any thoughts on the contrast between those two?

Anyhow I plan to upgrade the bumper to the ARB Summit, I guess difference in black wont be as noticeable...
