Hankook Dynapro AT2, factory SR size, I have about 35,000 miles on them, rotate every 5-8000 miles when changing the oil, I drive fast, and run at 35psi all around. Very dangerous in wet weather. I do not recommend, they spin so easy it’s scary and also annoying when I’m just trying to go. They were better then the factory Bridgestone duehlers for the first 20,000 miles but now just as bad. They look good but bad wet traction.

KO2s factory size, 265/17/R18, for the winter and shoulder seasons. No real increase in road noise on pavement. With that said, I have a '22 so it's hard to outmatch the wind noise. I've noticed a slight decrease in fuel economy compared to the factory Yokohamas but that's be expected. I went for KO2s because I live in an area that's borderline chains needed in the winter. KO2s should be sufficient for most of my local mountain passes all winter long. I'll update this post once I get a winter of use under my belt if people are interested.

Still liking these? Plenty of snow driving this year, still have the same impressions? How is tread wear?

They are doing great and have no complaints. I would buy another set of them but probably won’t cause my curiosity of what else is out there is going to kick in.

Tread wear is good but also subjective based on your setup, psi, how often you rotate, etc…. I have rotated mine every 3k miles and they have been just fine. I have a little bit more wear on the outside up front but think that I am slightly out of alignment up front and not the tires fault. They do seem a little soft so I am thinking I’m probably only going to get 40-45k out of them before having to be swapped.

Haha which is why I’m considering these instead of another set of Duratracs. What are you leaning towards?

SimpleTire has the Maxxis for a very good price.

I like the look of an MT tire but don’t know if I want to run one or not. That’s my internal debate right now but probably have another 20-25k miles to figure it out unless I make the jump to 37’s sooner. I’m leaning towards trying the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss MT or AT or a set of Nitto’s. I have a buddy that just got 60k out of a set of Nittos on his Tundra.

It is hard to beat those duratracs. That is what Mrs. Super’s SUV has and they do great. I can’t hardly get that thing to slide even when I want to.

It’s also hard to beat a sale. I’d probably get the Maxxis again if it was a big price difference.

Mickey Thompson Baja Boss MT. Hands down best tire around in my opinion. Great on road low noise, rain and snow zero issues. The offroad performance is wild. I can put this rig any where and it handles like a go cart at speed. I dont plan on running another tire on this truck as long as I own it. The AT is supposed to be an amazing tire for an AT.

I think this was mentioned in the 3 Mountain Peak thread, but it appears only a select few sizes of the Rugged Trek and Kenda R/T are in fact rated for severe snow. The MT Baja Boss AT is except for a couple of their very wisest offerings.

For me anyway, this is really a non negotiable rating and so the Cooper and Kenda were bumped from the short list.

This might be the most informative post that I have read on any forum, thank you all for asking questions and providing info. This is my first post here, so far.
I am in need of new tires for my 2018 SR5 Double Cab Tundra with the TRD Off Road Package. My current tire is the Michelin LTX AT2 tire that come with the truck (P275 65 R18). I am looking for a more aggressive All Terrain tire. I run the beach in the fall and hit the woods a few times a year. Most of my driving is on the road, but rain/snow driving happens often.
    My short list is:
    BFG AT KO2
    Cooper Discoverer Rugged Trek
    Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S
    Falken Wildpeak A/T3W
    Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T
    Nitto Terra Grappler G2
    Nitto Ridge Grappler
    Toyo Open Country A/T3

I've seen good reviews on this post for all of them, am I missing anything obvious?

    Thanks for any info.

I’m a huge fan of Duratracs. The General Grabber ATX should probably also be on the list, so long as your mud driving is relatively benign.

Not sure what snow driving is to you. Neither the Cooper Rugged Trek or the Nitto Ridge Grappler are 3MPS rated.

friendly bump - I'm in the same situation, need an aggressive looking tire on stock 18's that will primarily be on the street only, have poured through countless reviews of the above tires and they all wildly vary

    thanks in advance!

Good Morning! Just wondering if anyone has run these (Nokian Rockproof)? Haven’t seen them mentioned in various tire threads but seem like a neat hybrid/commercial type option.

I've got about 7K miles on a set of Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT's and love them. They are heavy but they stick like glue in all conditions and have gotten me out of some muddy situations without issue.

I don't know what to think about this. My KO2's have around 30k miles on them and only broke loose in the rain once. Maybe I drive a lot more conservatively than most. I also have a camper shell which adds a little weight to the rear. Overall they have been a great tire for me.

I have a 1987 Toyota 4X4 pickup and a 2018 Tundra 4X4 CC and I have KO2s on both of them. I have never had trouble in the rain. They have been good to go for me and they do great in the mud. I can't think of a better A/T tire for the mud without going to a straight up mud tire.

I put Falken wildpeaks atw on my 2023 sr tundra (265/70r18). They have a little road noise, not bad though. Handing you can feel the side wall flex and the tread blocks squirm a little since it’s the p-rated not LT ones. Overall the traction is great and the ride quality isn’t much different than stock. Hopefully they hold up!

Interesting! I had K02s on a 4Runner for about 4 years and they were amazing. Never really had the problem @Fishhead mentioned, but it could be the heavier back end(?). Bought a 1st Gen recently that came with newer K02s and they were good, but definitely broke loose in the rain a few times.

How are you still liking your Cooper discoverer AT XLT tires? I'm thinking of getting that exact tire and size on my stock suspension 2019 ben 2.5 tundra. Quiet and smooth on the road/highway is important to me and these tires seem to be reported as very quiet. I had KO2's on my previous 4runner and they were louder than I would like with the 10 ply E-rated version of the KO2's. And is your tundra stock suspension with no rubbing with the 275/70/r18?

    https://www.tirerack.com/tires/vredestein-pinza-at
Rated #1 out of 34 AT tires tested by TireRack customers.
$251 each at Tire Rack, $120 to mount, Hunter Road Force balance, etc at local TR installer. $250 less than Les Schwab. No one else in California carries them.
I wanted a LT tire in OEM size (276/65-18) with the Mountain snowlflake rating, don’t want noisy, aggressive treads. Need protection from sharp rocks on off highway driving and occasional driving in snow and icy conditions in California Sierras and logging roads in Canada.
Vredestein has been making tires in Europe for over 100 years, very well regarded tires there, I’ve had them on sports cars since 1971. These are their first venture in North American truck market.
Initial impressions are: Firmer than OEM on rough pavement, no discernible difference in ride on freeway. As quiet as the Michelins which surprised me.
Will update as I add miles.

What kind of mileage hit did you take? I have the same truck and am looking at these Cooper XLTs, my usual go-to KO2s, and maybe Firestone X/Ts. More worried about street/wet and mileage than off-road traction.

KO2 on my truck when I bought it. Couldn’t kill those tires. 70k miles on them and 6/32 tread depth. They had some rot but man they hold up. A little slippery in rain but just be careful not to goose it. I’m at 14k on the new set and no rain issues. What amazed me was how quiet they were with that many miles. I’ll always buy KO2. Was close to getting Baja Boss ATZ but they were back ordered and each tire is 8 lb heavier in the 35/12/20.

I had previously run the BFG KM3 on my 08 and was sold on BFG after those. Only went KO2 cause there’s no way the KM3 would’ve lasted 70k miles like the KO2 did. Off-road the KM3 is a tank if I had a 2wd I’d buy the KM3. They’ll go over anything and dig you out. No need for 4WD.

prior tires run by me were Toyo OC MT and those first 2 sets made in Japan got 45k miles. The next 2 made in USA sucked got 25k miles with 3k mile rotations. I’ll never buy Toyo or Nitto again

According to my truck gauge I lost 1 mile per gallon. But remember 275/70 is 1 inch taller than 275/65. So that throws off my speedometer. If I’m correct the truck thinks it’s going less miles than it really is. So did I really lose 1 mile per gallon. In reality it’s probably the same as before.
