Find out where the water tank is first on the chassis. My trailer is same gvwr. I just put a 40lb toolbox and a bunch of kettlebells in the storage for testing and hitch adjustment

The hitch receiver I checked and it has a bit of side to side play in it, may be another culprit. I can attach photo. Thinking I need to fill water tank only 25%, full also. May take it for a neighbor loop with no electric plug into trailer and see if the brakes may or may not be part of the equation.

The ball mount portion is moving on the post portion?

It is solid on the ball mount except for some side to side slop

On a side note.. you can rotate your smart jack 180° and then you can lower your tailgate without it getting in the way.. (when parked for loading/unloading)

I forgot to ask this, did you up your rear tire pressure? If it is too low youll get bounce

I have a gauge and will report back ! Yet ....... they put nitrogen in the tires, could this be part of it? Plus when one needs air there would only be a few places to go for nitrogen. Hhhhhhmmmmmm

Nitrogen in your tires would not cause this. The whole benefit of Nitrogen is that it bleeds pressure more slowly and is moisture resistant. You can just add regular air (mostly nitrogen anyway) with out hurting anything.

He meant the truck's rear tires.

When you say your hitch has side to side play, where is the play? Option 1, or 2?

Subb'ed, dealing with the same issues. More weight on tongue and less weight distribution (3 links of chain as opposed to 4) seemed to help a little.

I am going to try the tire pressure thing. I run my LTs at 42, normally.

Yeah, generally if you are going to tow you need to bump the pressure up more than the daily driving pressures.

I'd go to 50 PSI to see if there is an improvement.

I would recommend loading the trailer with all your gear, water. Take it to a flat street and make sure the truck and trailer are level. If not adjust the WD bars and hitch as needed. Then adjust the break controller. Take for test drive and see if it still has the issue.

@Scuba has a very good write up regarding LT tires and pressure. Look uo his threads.

LT tires may need closer to 60-65 psi depending on the load. 50psi in my P rated tires is going to act different and hold less weight than 50psi in an LT

also a good idea to take a baseline measurement before adjusting the hitch. Measure your front wheel wells without and with the WD bars on. This will let you know if you have it set properly or too tight. You want tongue weight, but you also want weight distribution for steering. The trailer load is easier to play with. Keeping ice chests and easy ups for example ahead of the axles.

i use to have this same issue. Then i just got rid of my Reese Trunnion Bar Hitch and I purchased a Hensley Cub Hitch. Problem was solved. No more tugging, no more sagging, no more trailer sway.

So apparently my payload is 1500 lbs or a touch higher. Tires are supposed to be P255's but I do not know if the TSS 20inch wheels are in that equation. Wife has truck at work.

On my 2020 TRD Sport DC my tires are 275/55/20 and pay load is 1320# and towing cap is 9600# all according to the manual and the code on the drivers door jam. What is your truck again?

Its a matter of preference, I prefer my trailer brakes to be a bit fast or heavy depending on how you look at it.
Load your trailer fully, tanks, gear etc. and then set your brakes.

When the trailer hits the rough patches of road it will bounce and flex.. you will feel feedback inside the truck.. southern cali roads are not the best.. i feel my trailer hitting the freeway overpasses and concrete expansion joints.. but when i am on smooth pavement like hwy395 its a very smooth ride..

I do like to drive a few miles with the windows open to listen to the trailer.. dont laugh, but i am listening for anything metal to metal, or sqeaking excessively.. I do a walk around when re-fueling.. looking at tires, and wheels and tow hitch... etc..

If you had slop in your ball hitch setup you would hear and fewl it every start/stop.. I do put a wrench on all bolts on the hitch setup just to mke sure nothing has worked loose..

Sounds like a lot of work, but it only tkes a few minutes and gives you peace of mind...

Read, and then reread the the thread, but still confused.

Tugging when towing at constants speed would be indicate you feel a pull backwards (trailer tugging on Tundra). Is this what you are experiencing?
If so, this means the trailer is slowing and pulling against the truck.

Based on the picture, I can't see where your emergency brake is attached to the truck. Could you be engaging the brakes on the trailer during rough roads?

Boucning (up, down and side to side) and a little movement backwards is somewhat normal on rough roads.
