Did you pay ~$450 for the color match? Their response was that price is for unpainted and it’s another $350 to have them painted.

100% - OEM is the same price and obviously safer fit. I get they want to raise the prices to meet demand, but they need to offer some value in there somewhere lol.

Yeah it looks like they did raise the price for the painted versions since I originally purchased mine a few months ago. The dilemma I had in buying the OEM version was that they only had the Cement color stock from Toyota in the older style 2014-2017 Pro Grill, pre-TSS sensor. So I was still going to have to figure out how to remount the TSS sensor, and I've read a lot of conflicting info on the effectiveness of products like the AJT relocation bracket.

The 2019+ OEM grills would solve the TSS sensor issue, but they don't come stock in Cement, so I'd have to pay extra to have it painted. SparksParts currently sells the newer Pro grill painted in Cement, including the hood bulge and sensor cover, for $1075 pre tax / shipping. The Taco Vinyl grills are still considerably cheaper for certain colors like mine.

 

I was in the same boat as you. I couldn't justify the price from taco vinly so I bought the older TRD pro grill from the dealer. For whatever reason the ajt bracket would occasionally give me errors with the oem grill but ever since I put on the trd grill I don't think I have had 1 error. At first the bracket gave me errors but now it's not. Can't explain. But very happy with my decision to go with the oem dealer parts.

 

Got the MCAutoParts grille insert installed yesterday. Fit was perfect and finish was pretty decent, definitely not oem quality. Looks perfect unless you’re inspecting it but only $265 for a purely cosmetic part is good for me.

Nice thanks for sharing. Probably a dumb question - but were the grill and surround he painted chrome? Or he painted the new plastic/resin ones from the factory?

 

They were chrome! I forgot what process he used, but he said the paint adhered to it no problem. I was really relieved to find out he actually works for a Toyota collision center. So I feel like I got a steal to get my rear bumper, front bumper, and grille all painted up for $600.

Installed today. Paint match is perfect, TSS sensor works. Happy I pulled the trigger when it was $500, front bumper shells on the way to complete the chrome delete.

My MCAutoparts.com grille came in today. Those clips are tricky, but I managed to not break any. Here's what it looks like. I'm loving it!

 

So here's my before and after. I did have a delay for my order as well, but Brandon was responsive and honest about the delay. I got the box yesterday and it took about 30 minutes by myself to install. Sorry she's dirty, and I forgot to take the before picture before I got started. All in all, I am pleased to say the least with the fit and look. Everything was nicely wrapped and protected in the box, and nothing was a problem to take off, put together, and install. Hell, even my TSS sensor mounted easily and works fine. I do recommend Taco Vinyl if you are looking to do this mod.

 

Looks great! I got a response yesterday and Brandon informed me that they did not receive the correct amount of hood bulges which left several orders unfulfilled.

 

I’m in the same boat, order was placed 7/5 but from the responses I’ve seen so far, I don’t mind the wait if the product is worth it. Hopefully it’ll arrive in the near future.

 

Super bummed I didn’t pull the trigger and naively expected the price not to change. Missed opportunity

 

I know what you mean. Mine was the same way. Order was placed and they were held up in Customs, so it was backordered, although Brandon was very honest in his emails and I waited rather impatiently. Glad it came and glad I waited.

 

I have the Taco vinyl one, and overall pretty happy with the fit and finish.

Couple things: I don't recall seeing the weather stripping on the hood bulge and I'm hoping I didn't accidentally throw it out. Also my TSS sensor just started to act up but I did notice the front sensor plate was loose, Im hoping that was it but Ill need to monitor it.
