I've been pondering this mount for a week lol. Think I've got a new game plan, once my other dash upgrades come in I'll be giving it a shot.

Anyone have any idea what camera would work without modification?

I looked around for one and couldn’t find one with a threaded section long enough. With the Pro grille you have to use a washer or some sort of backing. I think the only other option is a camera that the head swivels somehow allowing adjustability. The whole reason for using the spacer is to get the camera at the right angle to be useful.

My idea was to go to ace with the camera and see what I can find. Me thinking out loud below. This in theory would allow me not to need to drill into the mount. Still might need that 3d printed mount to stand the camera off for more visibility.

    1) Washer, lock nut- camera to mount or existing one in kit
    2) Barrel nut-Male portion to add extension and length
    3) Threaded male extended
4)Probably more nuts/washers to lock it all together

I think I might order another mount and try this way also.

I considered this mount but due to being impatient I went a completely different route and fabbed up a super simple bracket out of fencing strap and a couple bolts, been running it for about 3 months w zero issues, there is even a hole on the radiator support to bolt too
    upload_2022-2-24_13-16-57.jpg
I did not have to touch my grill at all, the camera sits right between the two supports and that keeps it snug enough so that it does not rattle at all during driving
I figured at the time 5 dollars in material and 20 minutes of time was worth a shot… I haven’t looked back, I’m sure if you blacked out the screws for the camera it would be pretty hard to notice. YMMV but this is serving me pretty well

Do you happen to have a picture of the video feed before the spacer? I want to go this route, but the spacer makes it look a little less stealth than I'd like. Did you try one of the shims it came with?

This doesn't look hard to make on my own, maybe I could make a different version that sticks out further so a spacer isn't needed.

It’s not as much needing the 3D shim for the right angle. Without the 3D shim the camera doesn’t want to sit flush against the bracket. It gets caught up against the grille.
I don’t have any pics of the feed without the shim.

Thank you, everything is making more sense to me now. I should be able to bend one that fits better out of scrap.

Got some shims from my buddy that printed them. I also have some of the stainless screws #10-32 threads and the washers for the bolts. You would need to get the stainless lock nuts and body washer. I have 5 sets with shim.

So the threaded part of the camera fit into a hole in the radiator/grill and you were able to nut it down?

Not exactly, I made a quick L bracket out of fencing strap. One end goes to the radiator support and the other end holds the camera, the supports between the Y and O keep the camera/bracket from jiggling around while driving

I end up using a rubber washer to hide and insulate the fender washer. I’m going to test the camera angle and will come back with blue locktite the nut in place.

That looks super clean! I have the camera, shim, anytime camera harness, and the Pro grill bracket ready to install just haven’t got around to do it because I’m in the process of moving. Once I get settled in a couple weeks I’m going to get it done.
Did that threaded sleeve replace the one on the camera to extend the length?

I forgot to mention: Between the reducer and the bracket I put a M8 Stainless Steel washer and the M8 nut that came in the ABC package. "If you don't do it this way the reducer won't be long enough"

Between the other side of the reducer and the M12 nut I put a 1/2 x 2 rubber washer (for protecting the grille) and 1/2 x 1 1/2 Stainless Steel washer... DON'T buy the M12 lock nut. It didn't work for me because it was too big.

I’m confused… how does this work? Earlier posts talk about the need for two additional longer screws since the threaded portion on the back of the camera isn’t long enough to sandwich everything together. How did you make it work it work?

The M8-M12 thread adapter sleeve acts as an extension.

I’m working on dialing this in a little and offering it as part of the camera shim offering over at RainMan Fabrications

Ah I see, that’s a pretty smart idea. I already have the harness, camera, etc, looks like I’ll have to order a few of these as well. I like the cleanliness and simplicity.

I bought the thread adapters and nuts. I only need one of each for the install. I have extras that I’ll never use for anything else. You want me to send them out to you and you can include them with your shims?
