I never got the sensor to work doing it either way. I had to get it recalibrated.

Mine was never "Recalibrated" there is a button in Techstream IIRC that is labeled as "Reset PCS system" I think the re-calibrate thing is BS that dealers spew to make money. There is no way you could design a system right on the edge of breaking each time you throw something in the bed and un level the sensor. There needs to be some fudge factor built in.

Is techstream something that plugs into the OBD port? And is that something that anyone can get their hands on? I had no luck getting mine to work and finally took it in for recalibration. The sensor does set several inches lower with the 2019+ TRD Pro grille. But I’m not sure how much fudge factor there is built in.

when I put on my 2019+ pro grille a couple months ago I didn’t disconnect my battery. I just unplugged sensor from stock grille and swapped the pro grille on and re-attached the sensor. I didn’t have any TSS issues. I will say though, my truck had a leveling kit so it already sat ~2 inches higher than stock.

You can google it. I don't think the mods here like members to talk about it.

I have heard that as well. Seems like it is hit or miss. I put the stock grill back on after the PCS light came on. I then disconnected the battery for an hour just to see if it would clear it self and it did not. Put the Pro one back on used Techstream to reset the pcs system and it has worked for the last three months no problem.

Well they did nothing. Wouldn’t even call me back. Total bullshit.
