I changed the fluid at the dealer 10k ago. Same symptoms before and after.

Smart move. Did you by chance try and measure the angle change before and after? I'd be curious to know.

So, I finally got around to flipping my bearing as displayed the way it “should be.” Sure enough, there were washer imprints in the other side. I also installed 3/4” CB drop and the drive shaft appears much more straight but not inverted. There was a slight pre-existing shimmy at a launch-like take off that seems to be gone. I don’t drive it hard very often so I’ll have to pull up to a few more Prius’ at a stop light to know for sure.

Amazon or ebay will have carrier bearing. Spicer is the company to look for. I just replaced my 2006 Tacoma and it used Spicer from OEM.

I'm curious about when and how much CB drop is needed under different circumstances.

When I first lifted my truck, I used a 1" block and 2" shackle. The vibration was pretty bad... so I used a CB spacer kit (1.25") for a 2-4" lift. The vibration got better but was still pretty noticeable... so I went with the shorter 3/4" spacers. It's better... but I STILL have a vibration.
Now I'm wondering if I just need to use a 1/4" or 1/2" thick washers instead.

I never imagined the driveshaft angle would be so damn sensitive.

I only notice it under hard acceleration when the leaf springs are twisting. If I pull out slowly, it won't vibrate at all.

It seems like the pinion needs to be rotated down a couple degrees.

Take a pic of your carrier bearing and post it here. I can't count the number of times I've seen these installed upside down.

Its never been off. Exactly as it left the factory.
This pic is with the taller (1.250") spacers.
Ive since swapped to the .750" spacers.

Wanting to revive this as I am currently shopping a drop kit for my lift and am having issues on the correct drop spacer size. Wanted to go with Coachbuilder but they only have 0-2" lift and 3-5" lift. I should be right around the 2.75-3" mark. Shopping on some of the other drop bracket kits they dont provide the actual spacer length. Anyone have suggestions for the 2.75"-3" lift range, looking like it needs to be right around .75"-1" of drop?

There's no easy answer for you. Some people get a lift and don't need a shim at all. I didn't even buy an actual shim, I just stacked heavy duty washers until the shudder went away, then added one more for good measure. I intended to replace it with an actual shim, but never did because the washers worked. If I were you, I'd do the same, measure, then order the appropriate size.

Just following up on this thread. Did the CB drop resolve the shudder from stop issue completely? My 16 seems to do the same thing. Not really noticeable unless I'm really paying attention. Currently have no drop installed on mine but it is oriented properly and I have a decent ProComp lift. Is installing the spacer kit as easy as taking the bolts out and throwing the spacers in?

Literally as easy as you describe. The slight shudder I had in my 14 w an OME lift went away entirely w a 1/2” spacer.

I went w a solid spacer from the hardware store rather than washers.

    Jumping in on this late…

I just fitted Deaver U748 leafs to my tundra, and I have a small shudder from what I think is coming from the drive shaft! I have Fox 2.5s up front and the leaf pack along with a coachbuilder +1 shackle (0.75) of actual lift! The rear is at least 1” 1/2 higher than the front since the leaf install! My drive angle looks steep, has anyone any pictures of theirs, I’ll happily buy a bearing drop kit but I’d rather get the drive in perfect alignment than guess it with a spacer!
