I was drawn to the bigger cab over the bed and my kids or adult passengers both love it back there. Nothing wrong with DC’s either and I marvel at my buddy’s longer bed, I just don’t haul all the time. Gonna be what’s more important to you and your financial tolerance once you see the numbers.

I went back to my dealer and asked them what my options are. They offered me 33,900 on it. I also reached out to another dealer and they offered 34,000.

Needless to say, the adults, kids, and their car seats fit just fine in the double cab! What a spacious truck! Thanks everyone for the responses.

    +1 on this.
Have 2 kids now, 1 in rear facing seat and other one just got out of rear facing. Talk about a PITA....Crewmax hands down is the only way to go. DC has no more room than its little brother the Tacoma. And the extra foot of bed space i could give a rats ass about, thats what a bed extender and tailgate is for if need be.

I am fortunate to only have the one child so she has her Recaro car seat which is pretty substantial in the middle and because I have the full bench she has a foot rest to place her feet during rides. I also move every couple of years(currently in the middle of one) and that extra foot of bed space is precious to me. I love my DC and only wish it had fogs, better headlights, entune plus and the 5.7.

Plus I can’t trade it in because my daughter already told me I can buy a new truck and she can have my old one.

I have 4 kids, 2 in car seats (recaro prosport), wife and I in my DC. Its a little cramped in the back with the 2 car seats but the kids manage. Been drilling into them since birth not to kick the seats or touch the windows so it happens occasionally which I can tolerate. However, we have a minivan that is used for 60% of our trips so its usually just me in the DC which is how I justified it over the CM.

I did check out both the Double Cab and Crewmax thoroughly. I was going to go with DC but ended up with CM because of leg space. But the way I see it the CM back is WAYYYYY to big. Could have went with 6" less and added that to the bed to make it a clean 6' bed. Or at LEAST make the rear seats slide up. Having them fixed and with that much leg room really is wasting space.

I hope when the do the redesign they take things like this into consideration... oh and also FIX THE DAMN AUDIO, my 2014 Limited 4Runner had 2x the power of these weak sauce system!

I don't have kids and was looking at a Pro DC. I decided on a CM for the roll down rear window. Extra space is a plus along with resale if I plant to sell. With the higher rebate +$2k when I bought mine there really was not enough difference to justify the DC. Also there were not a lot left when I bought mine late in the model year.

Totally agree. Unless you are driving hours every day, CM might be worth losing a few K.

This is exactly how I feel about it. I want a 6 foot bed, and to gain that I would like to lose a little bit of space in the crew Max. It would’ve been perfect for me. I ended up with the DC because I want the option to lay in the back of my truck.

How about putting your truck up for sale or trade on CL. Mention you are interested in trading for a lightly used CM. Or find a Toyota Certified used CM or a CM used on some other dealers lot and see what you can work out. Lots of low mile Tundras make it onto dealer lots every day. Either they need better gas mileage or can’t make the payments or for some other more odd reason? Good luck. D

Assuming you're financing...if not, you can ignore most of what I'm about to say:

You're talking about ~$60 per month? If the space is a big enough issue to consider this move at all, it may be worth that cost. But it is a big hit to take after just 2 weeks.

I bet you could sell it privately and make up some of that if you can pay the rest of the payoff out of pocket. I used cars.com to sell my last one. Took about a month and the patience to sift through the volume of scam messages to nail down the 5-10 serious interested parties, before closing the deal. I was very skeptical, but it was actually easier than I anticipated. YMMV

You're in a tough spot for sure. In the end, you have to love stepping outside and seeing that thing waiting for you in the parking lot or driveway. For all that hard-earned money, it has to evoke a visceral reaction or else it might as well be a Kia Sportage.

I have four kids and owned a '14 DC (long bed) so I can appreciate gaining cab space while losing almost three feet!! of bed length when we bought our CM. For us, the justification was this: if we can't all fit comfortably together in the truck, then we need something else entirely (SUV). Family first = cab room first; you can get way more creative with cargo than you can with kids.

How low would they have gone on the new one? If they went $1,000 under invoice on the new one, and perhaps threw in some sweeteners, you may have been able to get close.

I have 2 kids. Double cab is plenty of room for me. Both in carseats as well. I'll take the extra bed space any day. I prefer the DC look over a crewman as well. Also more spacious than my Prius daily driver and the wife's rav4. We have carseats in all them.
