Everyone complains about the dealers on here. I’ve never been to the dealer since buying my truck. I bought a Toyota…..

As it pertains to this thread, are you suggesting that if you can’t dodge it, Ram it? Or something.

Salt and rust is not the fault of the truck. Anything after 250k miles in the NE driven in the winter would be rusting apart.

Man I wish I could say what you said about it being broke. Mine has been at dealer for simple leak issue at AC condenser since September 22, was told yesterday they are hoping to have parts by end of October. I’m without my truck and that’s a pisser.

I think my 2019 will force me topping up the washer fluid, AGAIN. Did it twice in 3 years already. 14 hard earned bucks every 10k miles really rips me off, what Toyota was even thinking about?

It still has some left on the bottom, though. Probably can make it through mid-winter.

My wife's Highlander and my Tundra have been back to the dealer more than any of my old Ford's. Multiple recalls and problems that Toyota dealers don't see as an issue. My wife can't wait to sell her Highlander. 4 years and 70k miles of a shaking steering wheel, pulsing brakes and interior rattles from hell. Still waiting for the Toyota quality to kick in...

Get a 4runner or a Toyota that is made in Japan...That said, no car manufacturer is perfect. My coworker just traded his F150 for an old Cummins powered Dodge cause of cam phaser issues. The takata airbag issue sorta proves that they are not infallible.

Enjoy! Hope you feel the same after 4 years and at time of resale.

NO question that my buddies 2017 GMC Denali and 2017 Ram (of some upscale package) looks more luxurious than my Tundra did in 2017, but 5 years later, my TRD PRO still looks and feels the same, theirs, not so much. Plus, all I have done is oil, filter, tire and brake changes. They have both had multiple dealer visits for all kinds of issues.....

I don't doubt it. I've seen some extremely reliable Toyota pickups. I had two buddies in high school with 22R pickups that wouldn't die.

That’s one of the reasons my Yukon XL had to go back to the dealer—that stupid Takata airbag accelerant canister. It slowly rusts over time and can send shards of itself into your neck and face if left in the vehicle too long. They supplied that part for BMW, Chrysler, Daimler, Ford, GM, Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, and Toyota for multiple years.

I just realized that the only ones that were exploding were ones made in their Mexico factory. Takata has factories in Europe and elsewhere and they did not have this issue. I've been doing some reading on it and I guess it's a pretty shady company. The Chinese own it now and I guess they have reported some "inaccuracies" in their testing results on seatbelts.

My wife’s Jeep went once for an oil leak on the front engine cover. My 01 Silverado went once for AC issues. Been pretty lucky overall with car issues. Keep the maintenance tip top at home though. Maybe that helps, maybe I’ve just been lucky.

My brother in law is a parts manager at a Dodge dealership, and he was wearing his company fleece with the mopar patch on the back. I asked him if he's had any electrical problems with it yet and he laughed. We had a pretty good discussion about Chrysler's history of electrical issues starting around mid late 90s on. He told me about a lot of the common issue they see...even with the 5.7 hemi that's been around forever. That just confirmed my bias that I will never buy another Chrysler product. My 97 TJ was the 1st Chrysler rework, and it has all sorts of electrical gremlins.

I have been a GM guy as they have been trouble-free, but the 2019+ valve spring issues and the way GM was handling it scared me off.

I was going to order a 2022 Tundra, but got 1st year cold feet at the last second. Ended up in a 2021 Tundra. I accept the lack of new tech and comfort as a fair trade off for poor fuel economy and great reliability from the last model year of a build know for its reliability.

Good luck with the Ram. Hope it's a lease, and you can cycle into the next new one before the current one bleeds you dry.

I'm definitely on top of maintenance but I can't do much about recalls. I'm sure part of it is just dumb luck. I bought a Silverado back in the early 00's. It was a massive pile of crap for me. All my friends with the same truck had almost no issues and kept them far longer. I switched back to an F150 and had many years of trouble free driving. I guess it's just a sign I was meant to drive a Ford. Lol. My 92 Bronco is still on it's original engine at 226k miles.

They really are super nice to drive. They just have everything so well dialed, from the suspension to the engine to the transmission. And the interiors are nice and well thought out.

If ram comes out with that 3.0L inline 6 turbo, they will have my close attention.

Exact same thought process here. Driving the same way I drive with the same mods (a minor lift, 285/75s, skids, and a roll cover) on any other truck in the class—diesel notwithstanding—would put me within 3mpg where I am now. So I’ll just take the one that meets my needs and has the highest likelihood of not bothering me with issues.

Which is the only reason anyone seems to be able to come up with. Many(15x as many people buy Ford, Ram and Chevy each year) are willing to take a small risk for the trade off

Whats your MPG’s? Because my 2014, 6200 lb F150 Ecoboost is averaging 18 for the last 700 miles on 315/70’s. Pretty sure a bone stock 2nd gen wouldnt be within 3 mpg lol. My 4.6L Lexus GX barely matches my F150 and is 1000 lbs lighter.

I have heard that inline 6 engine is coming. I have a secrete love for the inline 6, now add on a turbo and I am sure it will pull like a beast.

I would reason that within the next 3-5 years V8s are a thing of the past.

One of the things I really like on the 22 tundra is the 3.5 twin turbo V6. It really is a great engine with lots of power.

I can get 18 pretty easily on highway only trips if I don’t speed. 16 as a tank average. (It resets every fill-up.) So yeah, that’s within 3mpg.

They have that motor in the new Jeep Wagoneer, I can't not see it make its way to the trucks.

I had great experience with my Jeeps. My daughter now has my 06 Commander with 200K miles. Still going strong
