Wait until the "well made" Stellantis hits 100,000 miles or when he goes to trade it in and see how poorly they hold value.

That should tell you something right there. How many Toyota dealers are selling used Rams for over MSRP?

Edit: Are any dealers selling used Rams err Stellantis other than the TRX for over MSRP?

    1) Warranty Expenses, 2) Factory Recall expenses, and or 3) losing $37,000 per EV that they are making right now.
I wonder which one would affects the bottom line the most?

Good thing the F150 is Fords Cash Cow. Or is it still?
Assuming it is and it offsets losses because their stock price has been the same all year.

And I believe you can get those 5 figure discounts off MSRP on F-150s again like before the pandemic. They have a ton of markup. Or for the 150s I guess it is a half ton of markup.

Lightening production is being cut and they're trying to blow what's out there out the door as they're doubling production of my powerboost.

Just over 300 miles of range that gets to the low 200s with need to find a working charger that requires an hour-plus to do its thing vs a realistic and very doable 650+ mile highway range (Done it multiple times) with gas station fillups. The market spoke, it prefers the hybrid. Ford really needs to pursue and expand that technology in the pickup segment rather than mess with pure plug in electrics.

That article is funny tho. It's trying to spin a negative (heavy discounts due to slow sales) into a positive. (Hey, all the naysayers are wrong, EVs aren't super expensive.)

TWO water pumps and a starter in only 8 years! And that was the best? I’ve never replaced any of these parts on any of 6 Toyotas I’ve owned (all for more than 100K mi ea. and about 10 yrs ea)

My wife's 2013 Corolla got a new water pump when it was about 5 years old with about 55k miles on it. :anonymous:

If EVS are so great why aren't the Lightnings selling fast for $60,000?
Look at how many government incentives are in there! That shortage of Tax $$ will be made up elsewhere.
Also the government dictating the winners and losers in the economy instead of consumers never ends well. ( Another thread topic)

They work out well for some lifestyles. A lot of other people who are really not a good fit for them have a pie in the sky perception of what ownership would be like until they hear from others who took the plunge and learn the limitations. The more people who are enticed to buy, the more the public is learning about the cons. I think Ford is finding out there just isn't room in their lineup for a hybrid and full EV version of the F150 and it's less costly right now to push and improve the hybrid than it is to make the Lightening more practical for more people.

I'd like to see a tiered performance plug in hybrid that is capable of say 30-50 pure ev miles right after a charge. Then at or below a certain level of charge it reverts to self generating mode the way it works on the Powerboost now, switching back and fourth every few minutes based on throttle application, until it can be plugged in again. Could theoretically be good for a consistent 700 miles on the highway.

If I could get government incentives that drop the price of a truck to $37k, why would I pay $60k? Or are you implying they should raise the price to $83k so consumers actually pay $60k?

For poops and laughs I KBB mine the other day. My sticker was just over 57k and I gave a $1500 MU. May-Aug last year. Actually $2k but I got a complete tint job that would of cost me @$500. Anyway, 1yr and 4mo. My trade value is mid to upper $40's. That's disappointing as I thought about trading for a hybrid or Sequoia.

I paid $63k for mine in May of 2021. This one has almost the exact same miles and mine has more options :)

The ZF 8 speed is an excellent design. The German built ones are rock solid. The American built ones by license for Daimler now Stellantis are pretty good too. From the sub 450hp version all the way up to the HD version, great transmission.

If its true Ford is losing $37k on each EV the number should be $97k.
I see this as opportunity to buy a new type of vehicle being transitioned in. If it takes off the rebates go away eventually, and you have a vehicle you got for less. But If it doesn't take off......
Also half the rebates apply to Colorado.
What is to stop someone from buying one in Colorado and reselling it in say Jersey for a profit ?
Are there State laws preventing this ? @DrZoidberg

This truck does not seem to be trending towards stronger sales, they're cutting production along with the rebates indicating a misalignment of supply and demand. Ford itself sells a more practical truck for the way most people use it (Powerboost) and I think they're seeing this new Ram tech and expecting to be blown out of the water by it.

IMHO....Just say no to "incentives". Let the free market rule the day. Doesn't make sense to make unprofitable vehicles and then provide a monetary enticement to get someone to buy it who's on the fence.

I assume you have to be a resident to get the rebate or pay some kind of tax when you register in NJ.

The free market is speaking clearly when Lightening production is cut and Powerboost production is doubled. But then central planners who are offended their vision for the market is threatened tend to want to interfere to show they're smarter than hundreds of millions of consumers making decisions about what's
    Best for them.

There's a free market that's powerful and effective but a minority with a different cost/benefits analysis from the rest of us tend to hold it back because they want to prove they always know better. And they want to pick their preferred set of winners and losers.

I agree with the policy of getting rid of incentives in general. But if I can put less money out of my pocket to buy something because an incentive exists for the specific item I'm buying at that moment, I'll take advantage of it.
