I'm not sure. Is there a recall for 2021 Tundra pumps?

Ford seems to make fine automobiles but their customer service is awful. No loaner?!?! Screw that. My colleague at work had a Ford Focus that had a problem with a transmission chip (?). It would not engage the transmission intermittently. Sometimes when stopped and pulling out from a stop sign, the car would drift forward and spin up the engine but not move. He almost got t-boned a few times before he took it in. They admitted the issue after almost a year and his car sat at the dealership for FOUR MONTHS waiting for the part due to the shortage. They made him pay for the rental!!!!! Has to file with his insurance company who only paid like $19 a day……he was upset and came to me for help. We called the dealership and asked what the deal was and gave them a chance to make it right. They didn’t - so we filed a claim with the better business bureau. Shit you not, he got a call on his way home from work that day from the general manger of the dealership apologizing up and down, saying he didn’t know what happened but that he will reimburse him every penny for the four month rental. His car was “fixed” within the next week and he traded it in……..on a Toyota

Im.sure I could have kicked the hornets nest so to speak to get some progress on my truck. However I was so frustrated and I felt that I shouldn't have to do a damn thing. I paid a premium for a new truck and warranty and I felt like I shouldn't have to lift a finger.

It was the most impressive vehicle I've owned. Super powerful, off road capable, and towed my camper like it wasn't there.

Why did you get the F-250? The only reason I went that route was I needed the extra payload and towing capacity. The F-250 is a solid rig, built like a tank. But if I didn’t need that big of a truck, I would have stuck with the Tundra merely for the reliability and resale.

I went to Langley HS in 1969-70, my dad worked for Northrup-Page, and we lived on Old Dominion Drive just inside the beltway. Alas, Cherner Lincoln-Mercury is no more. I really liked the McLean area. Never made it to W. North Carolina -- but hear it's nice.
Last time I was at my Toyota dealer(July), there were zero 2021 Tundras. Featured out front was the closest thing...a black 2019 1794 w/ a shell for 63K, marked down to 53K.

We currently have a 35' bumper pull camper and I pull dump trailers occasionally. I was going from a 6.4 diesel and just figured I needed a 3/4 ton. I guess I like things to be over built so I never use something at its designed limits? After getting the new Tundra I realized how far 1/2 ton trucks have come. I'm starting to think if we get a smaller camper I may not need a 3/4 ton. The 2997 lbs of payload for the f250 was sweet tho.

Wow small world. I went to McLean high and grew up on linway terrace! My dad did a lot of secret squirrel satellite stuff for the government.

I got extremely lucky with this truck. It's build date was May of 2021 and my tremor was February of 2021. I definitely lucked out.

Absolutely agree. I didn’t realize how low the payload was on the Tundra until I had to haul some topsoil, turns out I couldn’t haul much!

I can get a little over a yard in my short bed. It’s no HD truck, and I think the F250 looks great, but I’d rather do two trips for mulch in my Tundra and be overweight a bit when I load up for projects at home than daily an F250. My truck doesn’t care at all that I’m over GVWR (yet still within axle ratings). I squatted a bit but wasn’t riding on the bump stops.

That’s fair, I may be an odd ball, but as a daily, my F-250 rides better than my Tundra did. Especially on the highway at high speeds. The Tundra just didn’t handle road bumps well and was not planted especially at highway speeds. I actually get better gas mileage too, I just ran a 300 mile trip yesterday averaged 70-75 mph and 16 MPGs with the F-250.

The one thing I miss is the small turning radius of the Tundra.

    Welcome from Utah, OP.

I've got a 2022 F350 Lariat Tremor with the 7.3l gasser, about 6k miles on the clock, 2k of that towing more than I feel comfortable putting behind a Tundra. So far zero problems - hope it stays that way.

I'll be honest, in almost every way I am enjoying the new Ford over the old Tundra(s). The Tundra is a great truck, but it's bare-bones in comparison, has a fraction of the features, has a rudimentary interior.. the list goes on. Styling and reliability are phenomenal with the Tundra, of course. I guess if I start experiencing reliability issues I'll start singing a different tune.

Still think the Tundra is the greatest of the 1/2 tons. Wish Toyota would get into the HD truck segment.

I will say that on average the Tundra community is more enjoyable. Lots of good people here - lots of... highschool dropouts on the Ford forums. I'm being a little dramatic here, but only a little.

As long as the tundra meets your hauling needs and gas mileage is of little concern, it’s a great decision. The aftermarket can address pretty much any shortcoming with the tundra, the important thing is the reliable vehicle to build off of. You can also get front/rear lockers if that was something you liked about the tremor. I have the same toytec front coilovers and the same method 314 wheels on my truck and love them both. My favorite mod is the supercharger, if you find yourself wanting more power I recommend it!

Congratulations. I was looking into the f250 as well but all I read about were problems. Happy you switched. Happy new year

Yeah, the turning radius is money. It feels like driving a powerful Tacoma with lots of space. If I were towing more than 8k lbs, I’d be in an HD truck, too. But this truck for me serves multiple other purposes: gear hauler for work (it all has to ride in the cab), trail pig, camping rig, hunting rig, occasional materials hauler for home projects, and daily driver into Nashville. Because of the remote places we go, it needs to be extremely reliable, hold lots of gear and people, and it needs to drive small. The Tundra is the best truck available in the US market for these three criteria. I’m a bit over GVWR when we’re loaded up, but this is a non-issue.
Regarding the part I highlighted, those are pluses for some of us.

I too wish Toyota would get into the HD segment. Even an HD Payload Package on the iForce Max trucks would be enough for the vast majority of us who are payload-conscious.

My experience reading through the Ford forums matches yours.
