Hey guys i just purchased a 2021 Tundra Limited TRD with 3,000 miles on it. I had previously and very recently purchased a brand new 2021 F250 Tremor. It was my dream truck. I had been following their progress and development for a long time and felt like i made a well informed purchase for my family. Unfortunately after only 6,755 miles on the clock (got it with 3) the whole dash lit up like a christmas tree. CEL for the MAF sensor threw a code, the transmission threw a code, and the pre collision avoidance system disabled itself. The whole truck went into limp mode and the trans (probable torque converter) began to stink. I called all of my local dealerships and all said that it would be at least 3 weeks before they could see me just to diagnose it. I told them what my code reader said and they didnt care. They then said that if i needed a loaner they couldnt provide one, and that if i needed a transmission it would be well after the first of the year.

All of this to say i went where we purchased my wife's Higlander brand new. That thing has been flawless for 35,000 miles now, so i figured id try their trucks. So far I AM IN LOVE. plenty of power and a proven drivetrain. I have always loved forum content and was active on the Tremor forums. So far ive been able to read everyones input about lifts, airbags, wheels and tires, and i appreciate all of your posts already. I hope to build the suspension up enough to tow our camper! Im excited to make this our next adventure truck!

Congrats and welcome, glad to hear you’re enjoying the new truck so far. A buddy of mine got a F250 tremor with the big v8 just after I got my 2021 trd sport premium, we will see how that goes!

Welcome. Damn I sure hope that doesn’t happen to a couple of my buddies. So far they have been great trucks.

I always liked the tremor, sucks that’s happened. I just had to turn in one of our fleet trucks, a 2019 f-150 5.0 to the dealership for a second time. Less than 36k miles. This time I made sure the service advisor told the tech the TSB I believe is the issue, which has to do with the spacer between the engine/trans. Last time all they did was inspect valves and put in a new fuel pressure sensor

Nice looking Tundra!!!! Did Ford fix your Tremor before you traded it in? How did that go?

Might want to think about higher rear bump stops. Longer shackles often flatten leaf packs due to forcing the springs down beyond their design limits.

Man o man screw that!!! Ford wouldn’t even give you a loaner to drive around in!!!’ That just s&)($!!!!! I really hate to hear that! after you purchase a truck a 250 at that and I am sure it was not cheap and then they treat you like that!!!! WOW!!! One good thing about my Tundra if anything like that would occur I would just have to call and I would be told to get it in there ASAP!! Heck even if I have extras put on it’s like when can you bring it in.
Glad you left that side of the railroad tracks!!! Surely you’ll be treated better at the Toyota dealer!! Good Trade!!:)

Nope. I drove it to them as it sat and the dealership said he’d make it fords problem. They gave me more on trade than I originally paid for it. I couldn’t say no to that deal.

Yea its a kick to the nuts. However, I was brand loyal. I’ve had a 7.3 diesel, a 6.4 diesel, and a 5.0 f150. And finally decided to go brand new. After not getting any help I said screw it. Even if they had flashed it and fixed it, I saw guys in the forum say it popped up again or had a complete trans replacement. I’m not gonna play those games. I paid a premium to NOT worry.

Oddly enough I did have a small issue with a loose plastic panel because one of the grommets broke. I took it to the dealership with no appointment, showed the service writer, he grabbed tools from a box, met me in the service line, fixed the problem and sent me on my way. Fred Anderson Toyota in Asheville has always treated us like gold. That’s why I went straight there when I needed my ford problem fixed lol.

It’s sad. I’m not sure what’s going on with ford but it seems like quality where it counts is taking a nose dive. One service manager told me that he has two ford focuses that have been waiting on warranty transmissions for 4 months.

If you want to do it right for HD work, you might consider what I did. Dobinson's HD 5+2 leaf packs, Yellow Sumo springs for bump stops, Roadmaster Active suspension HD kit, BDS traction bars, Bilstein 5160 w/res shocks. OME brake line relocate, Ironman greasable shackles and bushings. 18x9 rims with Yoko GO15 285/75 e rated. Gives about 3.75" of lift and will take a ton in the bed and barely squat. Bottom photo before rims and tires. 20211120_085609.jpg 20211011_133138.jpg

Sounds like you got hosed by your ex-Ford dealer. Why didn't they just tell you THIS IS TOO HARD FOR US. I hope you like the Tundra...I bet it was hard to find one of the last 2021s. Just because Ford's the biggest seller doesn't mean it's top-of-the-line! We really like our 2015 Tundra.

I knew a guy who bought a new Lincoln many years ago and had multiple failures in the 1st 3 months(transmission, starter, radiator, etc.) and he affixed a RealLemon radiator ornament + giant 20" x 30" yellow plastic cut-outs of lemons on each door with "Cherner-ized Lemon" to finger the dealer, parking it on his corner lot downtown in 1 of the 10 wealthiest counties in the country(McLean, VA, Fairfax County) until the dealer took it back.

Another consideration before you get too far along, is your truck affected or will it be affected by the power steering recall???

That sucks more about your shitty dealer not stepping up. I went the other way and sold my 2021 Tundra for an F-250, I needed the extra payload and towing capacity. If my F-250 gives me fits I’ll move over to a GMC, I’m digging the AT4 line up but they’re spendy!

So far I really like the F-250 and it’s been a great truck, no issues. I wouldn’t have passed up the deal you got either.

I was very torn between the f250 tremor and my tundra. Happy I stayed with Toyota. My Tacoma treated my right.

I’ve also dreamed of a f-250. I have many friends that have them and no issues. I have zero need for that size truck, i just want one.. always wanted one … zip, zero need… I can get a used regular cab 250 or 2500 to haul my landscaping equipment…just want that big boy toy before I get to old to enjoy it I just bleed Toyota red… sold 18 to buy a 250 or the new Tundra, I just don’t like the price on the new Tundra.

    Too many, but not enough....
I too was about to pull the trigger on a big V8 F350 but the dealer wouldnt budge on the price at the time. So i walked next door and bought the tundra right there. Best decision ever, looking back after i have seen report after report of issues with the F 350s, i cant even beleive I was considering one.

Wow I saw a black Tremor while I was in Louisiana last month, and thought it was a really good looking truck and I even told my coworker "and I hate Ford trucks".

    Too bad it sucked.. :sorry:

I don’t think they suck. Many co-workers and landscapers around here have super duty’s and 2500’s with no or little issues. With as many as they make they are going to have some issues. What you see on the forums is a very, very small sample of owners. I’m not saying that they are better than Toyota’s, but the 250’s and 2500’s have there place. If Toyota made a 3/4 ton truck, my life car shopping could be done for the rest of my life! I’d be able to get all my vehicles from one dealership!

The tremor package for the superduty's came out in 2020. It's a 2" lift from the factory with locking rear end and a LSD front axle. Lots of off road modes, 35" tires and some different running boards. Basically a super duty raptor that can tow still.
