Ha.. Well I just tried the Tow/Haul and it does respond like crazy with a lot more pep in it's step. After you get going, let off and punch it again, holy cow! Throw you back in your seat, haha. I'm not sure I'm brave enough to do the "nannie" stuff.

These trucks have the equivalent of vtech and my guess is the tow button change the point of engagement of this techology from Let's say 3k rpm to 700 rpm.. My 03 odyssey had vtech it was fun..3k rpm kicked in and it was like a bat out of hell..just like these tundras do.. And don't forget the dual clutch transmission..

I traded in my '12 platinum for a '15 pro, and although I felt like there was a major loss of power at first, I'd forgotten about it after driving the new truck for a few weeks.. Then I came across this thread and turned the nannies off and it felt like my old truck again.

Were there changes between 2nd and 3rd gen that caused such a drastic loss of power in normal driving?

So let me get this right:
press once (traction control light on) and release
press and hold for 3 seconds (traction control light and Auto LSD on) and release
press and hold again for 3 seconds (traction control light flashing and Auto LSD on)

On my way home last night (while stopped) i pressed and held for 3 second and got the traction control and the auto lsd light on (with tow/haul on), it didn't really feel any different than regular tow haul mode. when i would press and hold it again, it would just turn everything but tow/haul off.

Tow/haul gives you the extra power; you will only notice the nannies off if you spin the tires or slide

T/H just remaps the shift logic of the transmission and the throttle pedals slope progression. The engine doesn't really produce more power per se.

True, but my point was that you feel a difference in power with tow haul, but turning off nannies doesn't give a feeling of more power... Unless you spin the wheels, then you would appreciate having the nannies off instead of entering limp mode.

Whups, I was just trying to make a generally clarifying comment. It wasn't really intended to be a reply to any one specific.

Ok, I get all of this, but the claim about this actually INCREASING gas mileage? Sounds like bravo sierra....

Anyone actually measured the difference of fuel consumption between factory standard and beast mode?

Can't wait to try this and scream like a little girl...

Just found this marvelous thread. Has anyone confirmed that all this turning nannies off stuff requires the same process on the Turd Gens? I (very unfortunately) took the train in to work today or I would literally leave my desk right now and go experiment with it.

Learning this solved a huge problem for me.
After I had the Supercharger installed I almost had a Wreck on the Freeway.
I was trying to pass some slow cars and when I moved over and Punched it the Nannies cut power to the Engine and the car coming up behind me almost hit me from behind.

Now I turn off the Nannies if I feel a little need for speed.
The Downside is I have already used up a set of Tires because she will even break the Tires loose on the Freeway at 75 Mph !!!
My next set of tires will have a lot more tread on them so I can hook up better.

Disabling the nannies in the rain can get you some good drifts in. You kinda feel like your in Tokyo drift.

Regular Mode Mileage over 3 tank fulls at same station = 14.3
Beast Mode Mileage over 3 tank fulls at same station = 16.5

Beast Mode without foot on pedal every time I drive = not gonna happen

So yes as odd as it sounds with beast mode on and constantly keeping my foot in it, I average 16.5 miles per gallon and that is me computing, not the Tundra telling me what it is.

I get 330 miles on a 20 gallon fill up at Race Trac or WaWa here locally. If by chance I fill up at Shell or Mobil I can sometimes eek 360 out of it on the same 20 gallons but that isn't consistent.

In contrast, regular mode driving at the same places with the same factors involved nets 286-295 on the same 20 gallons.

For the record, the truck says 16.1-16.2 almost religiously...

Question. I’ve smoked Fords, Dodges, and Chevys from red lights in the past. Yesterday, I lit up a GMC. Does that count as a new opponent, or is it the same as just adding another Chevy to the list?

Just wondering, in case I ever go through with my idea of decals of victims like fighter jet pilots used to do.
