Use caution on tight onramps and highway merges. Took the outside lane on a highway merge and pretty sure I was at the limit right before losing it- adrenaline rush but felt very risky.

Has anyone relocated the Tow/Haul or Traction Control buttons so they're next to each other? I tried searching and couldn't find anything.

I'd initially think that it would simply be a matter of peeling back the loom on the wiring harness to see if enough slack could be freed up. The next option that comes to mind if that didn't work, would to be to lengthen the harness to move the T/C button over to where the T/H button is located, assuming that'd be where you'd want the T/C to be. I know that for me, the T/C button can't be seen without craning my neck. Then there'd be the essentially non-issue of trimming the button of the little tabs so it fits the opening.

don't remember if i posted in this already. i'll have to try it out , but i dont see how tow haul mode would help if your trying to go raw. speaking of 2nd gen 5.7L - since it seems tow haul puts some sort of VSC and ABS on to help stabilize a trailer.

if while stopped you hold the trac button till trac , auto lsd and VSC is off (its around 10 seconds of holding) that should be the rawest form use manaul shift for more fun.

ps if your getting good mpg and not 4mpg your using it wrong:rofl:

Tow/Haul switch changes the shift pattern to a more aggressive shift pattern. More sensitive to throttle position and drops down in gear a lot sooner. That is why it is a great function for towing. I have tried both on and off during a tow and it makes a big difference just for towing. So if it works so good for towing when turn all the other crap off it turns into a power house. So if you like your tires you won't have them for long if you stay in that mode. :burnrubber:

The buttons are next to each other on my truck. I guess Toyota changed the button layout at some point?

Hey now... .be careful there princess about that "dodge smacking" talk. I do enjoy the 11 Tundra and will be giving this whole "beast mode" thing a damn joy ride the next time the wife lets me drive her truck but the difference I've noticed with the tow mode on her toy and on my Ram is the tow mode assists in the down shifting and using the exhaust braking as well.
I haven't a clue about any that use gasoline but to say bad things about my precious little 3500 crew/long/Cummins is hurting her feelings until I put another 35,000 pound trailer behind her and pass another someone in another branded truck going up grade.
Now... to talk about breaking down, I've got to shop around for the damn oil filter housing on this damn great running and fun as hell to drive tundra.
    Happy day to all!

Was that trailer loaded with 35,000 lb of Rams you had to tow that were on the losing end of the quality control checks?

    :spending:
I know the split feeling, didn’t like my wife going from Toyota to a Ford but it’s grown on me. Other than the little details like suspension pieces needing replacement at 62k miles.

I have experimented with this for the past 3 years and I've decided that the best setting for me while driving around town is to turn the LSD off, and shift into S-4. The truck is quick off the line & powerful from 1st to 4th, and I can manually shift into 5th to cruise a length of open road... and manually shifting back into 4th at a stop. I don't use the Tow Haul feature because I am not towing anything.

    Alrighty then....
Firstly, yeah.. I do miss my Duramax but the Cummins was the only option I could purchase in a jam and stuck on the road with a 40ft toy hauler to move in the middle of no where.
Now lets talk about this "beast mode".
The wife's truck is the 2011 5.7 tundra. I tried what is spoken of here. First counted the 0-60 time with the truck in "D" and no other change.
Conclusion after the "one-onethousand,two one thousand" kind of counting was just about 10 seconds.
Tried the 'beast mode' of traction control off and haul mode on. The count was identical.

    What am I missing?

Traction control "off" says LSD on the dash. I don't know if I need to be on LSD to experience the change or what????

If you just tap the traction control button, it turns the LSD on. You have to hold it for 3 seconds to turn traction control off then another 3 seconds to turn VSC off. (On a 2014+, anyway. Not sure about a 2011.)

Tow/haul mode makes the accelerator more responsive but you won't notice a difference at WOT.

Damn Im so glad I searched tow\haul mode and came across this thread. I had never heard of this. This is exactly what my truck was missing. Since my lift and 35's I was looking for more pull. Just did the test 100ft burnout and smoked up the area just stomping on it from dead stop. I want 5.29s and my bam 10' is on the way. Will using beast mode with 529s be reving to hard or will it be ok to go beast mode? any input from guys with lifts,35s,529s driving frequently in beast mode.

You guys are a**holes! I stumbled upon this thread in some rabbit hole and HOLY HANNAH! Jeckyl and Hyde! This truck has split personalities and I love it. People wondering if it's good for the engine and what not, can't speak on that, but it's certainly not good for the brakes. If I wasn't on the floor with the fun pedal I was standing on the brakes. I would consider this the cheap mans Supercharger. It even sounded bada$$! Wow. And yeah I also experience the involuntary school girl giggling as I blasted out of the parking lot. Better have 2 hands on the wheel! This is no joke.

And another positive about this mod, it's FREE and doesn't require me to hand someone my credit card which has been happening a lot! She can't get mad about a free fun button! Let er rip boys!

The most important question i have, is where can I get a button that replaces "Tow/Haul' with "Beast Mode?"

I tried this last night (I think). Still somewhat confused as to the steps, but this is what I did:

    1. Get truck back into 2WD vs 4x4, as when in 4x4, the “VSC OFF” dash light is already on.

    2. Press the VSC and hold until both the VSC symbol on the dash and the “VSC OFF” dash light are both on.

    C02FD86C-726D-4BD4-B2E1-1C680EEA052F.jpg

    3. Press and release the “Tow Haul” button and the “Tow Haul” dash light comes on.

    4ABC789C-4E62-4384-B30A-6CAC48ACE9E7.jpg

    4. That was it for me, and it made a huge difference in terms of acceleration. I would say the truck is just as fast or faster accelerating from a rolling speed of 20 kph to 120 kph as my 05 Subaru Legacy GT wagon with the 5-sp manual. Lol!

    5. I forgot to engage the “RSCA OFF”button during my test runs, so not sure if that also needs to be engaged.

Ok. Good to know. When I pressed the “VSC OFF” button, I now got the “AUTO LSD” dash light on, but no “VSC OFF” dash light. What is the significance of this AUTO LSD light?

I figured out that you cannot get the “VSC OFF” dash light to come on if your’re moving. Vehicle has to be at a stop or in park.
For me, I just press and hold the “VSC” button for about 5 seconds until both the VSC symbol and “VSC OFF” dash lights come on sequentially in that order. No need to press and release the VSC button. To activate “Tow Haul” dash light is simply a matter of pressing the “Tow Haul” button. Going to try it out on my daughter’s Tundra tomorrow afternoon.

    Read to this Post #146.

I've only had my 2008 for a couple of wintery months. In that time, I've installed a Kenwood aftermarket head-deck with the Maestro RR2 harness.

So... the head-deck does have a 0-60 Gauge in the top/left corner and I've confirmed in bumper/bumper traffic it seems to work and counts up to about 30 seconds before ceasing the clock.

Haven't truly got round to testing the thing in any mode. Will do so in all of them... if/when it ever quits raining here in W-Valley Oregon. Some light snow predicted this week: Might venture out if fun opportunity arises.

We tried the beast mode on my daughter’s 2011 5.7, and the set up is different then on my 07, and like what folks have been saying with holding for 3 secs on/off. Weird…
