Looks like there is an option for it, but Toyota didn't upgrade the towing capacity or payload. The price is way off as well.

I knew I forgot to add something to that post with the comparison chart. "I 1UPPER cannot verify the accuracy of this comparison chart. I cannot be held accountable for members spending their own time analyzing the far superior Tundra to lesser quality trucks."

Thanks Chris! I forgot to post a disclaimer on that one. Lol

    Confirmed.

It's now a cartridge filter under the engine, and you have to remove a skid plate to get to it. Oil changes take twice as long now.

i have yet to hear someone complain about the pleated leather dash and seats in my platinum not being sleek enough for them. seems like half of these complaints are people venting how they should have bought a higher trim package.

For a full-floating system, the axleshaft only serves to transmit the rotational torque from the differential out to the wheel. It does not carry the weight of the vehicle as a semi-floater does. On a full floater, a spindle is attached to the outer end of the axle.

    Yes you would goofball. :D

If you've never owned a diesel you'll never understand. Diesels are; more fuel efficient, have greater durability, more torque which comes on very low in the rpm range, easily modified for huge power and torque gains...

It's Apple's and Oranges. It's just like our Yeti thread. It's what you need it for. Makes no sense whatsoever to put a diesel in a 1/2 ton truck, especially if it's your daily driver and your not doing any heavy towing

Perhaps you're exaggerating a touch?? The oil change is more expensive but the frequency of change is double that of the Tundra. I'd anticipate roughly 25 mpg vs 14 in the Tundra with gas. Here in my home state I could and would delete the DEF and tune the engine easily gaining 200 hp in the process. The current 5.7 makes what (381/400 ft/lb). The Cummins in stock form makes 385/900 ft/lb. Delete, tune, add a $500 exhaust and your sitting on 600hp and 1200-1300 ft/lb of torque while still easily getting well over 20mpg. Pull a 9000 pound trailer through the mountains in the Tundra you'll get well under 6 mpg and have to run the 5.7 at 3500-4500 rpm to keep the load up to speed. In the Cummins you pull the load easily at speed limit and still get over 14 mpg. Trust me because I just came out of a Cummins. I have owned 4 Tundras including one supercharged.

What's that supposed to mean (not strong 20 mph and over)? Mine was an absolute beast in the bottom and top. It had a 12 second 1/4 mile and weighed 9000+ pounds. Those little tires are 37's.

That was a typo about strong.. it's crazy to think they are getting over 20mph. If they are that's awesome on a truck like that.. I find it hard to believe that tho.. doesn't mean it's not true

Fair enough. So you want more for less? Good luck with that. I'm sure you would put in 20 extra hours per week at work for no extra pay huh?

    Again, more for less...see above.

And again, more for less. A diesel option is around 8-10,000.00. If you want a diesel, go buy one. They do make them in a 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, 1 ton trucks. You should look into the GM offering in the mini Duramax.

There is no way you are putting in a 6.7L Cummins motor in a 1/2 ton and getting any kind of capacity at all. The Rams still have shitloads of front end problems due to the 1050 lb motor up front...among plenty of other costly issues. This leads me to my next comment...See below.

You may have missed it, but I do currently own a Duramax Diesel 3500, and a "few" Dodge diesels. I do understand the the pro's and con's, but wondering if you have any long term experience with newer Common Rain/emissions systems. Since I have worked in a Cummins repair facility for a long while, I can tell you one thing, daily driving a modern diesel is just ignorant and costly in the long run. Most people trade up every couple of years, so they never experience these problems.

You do know the new diesels don't use glow plugs anymore. The front end problem was fixed in 2014. If you get rid of the emissions crap you don't even have to worry about the DEF and regeneration issues. I know of many daily drivers running around with 200,000+ miles.

No it is not. The cummins is 15K mile oil changes with no city driving or towing. 7500 miles if either of those two conditions occur. The Tundra is 5K for flex fuel and 10K for regular 5.7 motors.

Delete and tune...now you are comparing a ham sandwich to an apple (and it is illegal as hell). Again, working in the industry, I seen plenty of idiots just throw a programmer on and have at it. It was good for my buddies shop with all the motors, turbos, studding heads, fire ringing heads, trans issues...the list goes on.

Jesus Christ. You should probably just opt out of this conversation. The Cummins motors never used glow plugs, but heater grids, and this has nothing to do with daily driving.

Again, deleting this equipment is against federal law and people have been getting hit with fines. Shops especially, and it has gone up from 25000.00 to 50000.00 per occurrence.

Oh, and the front end was not fixed in 14'. Still alive in 2016. My contractor had several 14-16' 3500 Rams, and all had issues with DPF filters, DEF injection systems, and ball joints/steering tie rod ends before 30K miles. No thanks.
