Nice, I’m also a police officer in Los Angeles. Alot of cars are stolen in general. But it’s usually the same cars. Honda, (older models) Chevy (older models) Hyundai, Kia. Haven’t seen much of Toyotas new models. Not sure if you guys get that a lot over there??

We don't get many stolen vehicles period. The ones we do get, the owner usually left the keys in it. Now we are getting eaten alive by cat thefts, mostly focused on Tundras. That was by far my main concern here. Bought the @Classy63 Valhalla's Shield cat plate system soon as I could.

Which one if you don't mind saying? That is cheaper than $8. I looked at AT&Ts tracker and its $10

I use the Harman Spark through AT&T. Had it for a while now and it’s also part of a biz account with many, many devices.

I had all that in my 2020 AT4. It was unreliable, battery draining, and I had no real use for any of the features, especially since I have free crash detection on my USAA app.

I gutted my head unit and upgraded it on day 2 of Tundra ownership. I lost all connected features, but never missed them once.

Get a new HU and you'll forget all about that crap!

That may be how it was in the AT4, but I truly do enjoy my connected features, and find them to be reliable, they never drain my battery, and they’ve worked consistently. I enjoy getting a notification if my truck is left unlocked, being able to lock/unlock it remotely, and start it from inside the hospital to get eh AC running when it’s over 100°F outside. I’ve looked into third party options to change out my head unit and have these options, and in the end they all end up costing just as much, if not more monthly, and I’d have to carry another key fob around.

My wife thought all the connected services were cool in her Highlander. However after a while the newness wears off and she just ignores it now. She will not be subscribing once the initial free year expires.

Yah, the only one that I've been renewing annually is the Remote Connect, which is the one that lets you start, lock, unlock, locate etc via the app. It gets hot out here in Southern California, so I find it useful.

Same here. Not so much the hot part, but the renewing Remote Connect part.

I paid over $50k for the first time in my life for a vehicle...now they want additional money for some services that should be automatically included at that price. What they are offering is way to expensive IMO. If it were in the $10 - $12 dollar range for all three, I might consider it - otherwise I'll just have to make do without.

Do we have to use Compustar, or are we able to keep our factory setups and override them with your genius?

You would need a compustar one as it has the proper outputs to control my “genius” :)

Don't worry, you lose that with the 2.5 Gen as well.

It all depends on when you bought your truck. The key fob will stop working when the free trial runs out on your connected services. Safety Connect is included for three years, and Service Connect is included for ten years. Mine shut off once my Remote Connect trial expired, but they said it was an error (a lot of people had their key fob remote start stop working around that time). It took them about three months to get it working again, but I was told that once my free trials expire it will turn off again. They weren't sure if Service Connect counted, but my Safety Connect has been expired for about four months and my fob still works, but according to the Terms and Conditions it'll stop working if you don't keep paying for a connected service.

Okay. I also bought my 2020 TRD Pro in November of 2019 and I'm sharing with you the experience I've had, and the information I've received from reading through Toyota's documents, and speaking with Toyota directly. There were a bunch of us that lost key fob remote start towards the end of 2020, beginning of 2021 and Toyota came out and said that was by accident because Key Fob functionality is supposed to continue to work as long as you have an active Connected Services subscription.

That's the odd thing. I do *not* have an active Connected Services subscription...and yet mine still works just ducky. Not that I'm complaining, mind you.

I watched something that they have or are banning auto manufacturers from doing this paid subscription services in European Countries.
But, they said it probably won't happen in the United States, because everyone is money hungry and big business rules everything here.
