I have come to the same conclusions. While I believe I can manage things to stay at or under the limits, it would be a hassle to constantly be wearing my loadmaster hat not to mention the accelerated wear and tear on the truck.

With that being said, there is a reason those numbers are what they are and according to some of the reputable sites out there, the numbers are compliant to the SAE standard that has a margin of safety built in. There is extensive testing to generate those numbers. For my own personal standards I would have liked to have about a 10 percent buffer between my intended use travel weights and the max limits of the truck.

I really like this truck, I spent a lot of time researching and searching for it. Now I have to do it all over again.

It would be nice if there was a way to legally bump those official limits up through after market products.

Okay, I know i'm over payload and just waiting on new 2022 Tundra. here are are some numbers: 8,400lbs dry weight. probably around 9.400 fully loaded with gear. 1375 payload and 1200 tung weight, I'm over payload. No need to to call me out. This is my 3rd trailer and the heaviest. I've done all the upgrades as far as airbags and shocks to help. I just added roadmaster leaf spring helpers and they helped a little. if the 2022 doesn't solve the payload and towing, i'll probably go GMC. Nevertheless my 2008 has has been rock solid with no issues towing everything. I have 170k miles and have not had a problem towing heavy weight. However I only go about 60 miles and to our favorite spots and in good conditions. no high winds or anything crazy. I go from the San Francisco Bay area to Pismo once or twice a year and that's the toughest 4 Hour Drive I do. one big grade and n0 problem doing it at 60mph.
Not sure how accurate some of the numbers I have attached..

It’s too bad Toyota doesn’t make a HD truck. Unfortunately I was in the same boat as you, exceeding the Tundras payload rating then moving to a HD. Be sure to post how it goes!
