Dealer last week quoted me just over 11k for my 07DC. He seemed interested in the truck though. No doubt he wanted it, but he give me low kelly bluebook.

Well that just about it I wanted a pro and the dealer couldn’t get me one that late in the 2016 year so I decided to make a pro with the 1794 with out the stamped letters on the box.
In the long run I don’t regret my decision I like the options on the 1794 compared to the pro.
Pro would have been nice though ...this is my first Tundra been great so far.

Just sold my 2012 FJ (way modded) for $22,500. Bought it new for $30,000 8 years ago (literally 8 years ago in two days). I never would have got that offer on trade in. Modding is a lifestyle, not an investment. But it let me put a lot down on my new Tundra.

You won't get the mod money back but if its clean it shouldn't affect value. They are going to try to make money either on the new truck or the Trade in. One way or another they are in business to make money.

you might want to list it private sale. Toyota trucks around here are selling for way way over blue book

I read it. I was giving a real world example of how that works out if you keep your mods.

Yeah but it seems like most answers were in reference to him getting or wanting more money for mods, not him being explicitly told his truck was worth less because of some oem mods. Or that he already got rid of his other oem parts.

Well it does clarify the basis for this thread which would alleviate useless posts, like post #39.

Hey! Just because we all bought the same truck doesn't mean we all can read with the same comprehension.

Find a different dealer? I have twice traded in trucks, where my mods actually resulted in a higher trade apprasial. I traded a 2018 Tacoma with 6112s, 34s, FN wheels, etc and was given a trade value of $34,500, KBB high was 32,000. Reason stated for the price was my mods. The dealer then turned around and sold it for 38,000.

My 2019 Tundra that was totaled had it's value increased once they started adding in the wheels and tires and running boards. Ended up getting paid more than I paid for it new.

Despite that, Ive traded modded vehicles so many times and it either had no affect on value, or it increased it. Never had a dealer say it would hurt the value. Perhaps it's a regional thing.

No offense man, I get what you were trying to do, keep people on track as post 3 did clarify some things about the OP's situation. But I find it a bit hypocritical that your complaining about relevance with your 5 post that didn't really offer any relevance to the OPs problem or the conversation.. A lot of folks are just offering their experience with trading/selling modded vehicles in general. What useful advice did you have to offer?

I would not trade, I private sell only.
As for mods, I work it out with the buyer - they can pay more or less for what's included or not included.

Go to Race Toyota in Lindsay, Dave is the man to ask for, he was the most straight up person ever and gave prices that no one could beat, so much so that bought 3 cars from him this year.

Thanks buddy. I appreciate the feedback. Maybe next time we can both address the OPs question.
