How am I dogging electric vehicles?

This has less range than a vehicle that's 20k less expensive.

It's cheaper to own a Chevy Bolt, Nissan Leaf, or a model 3, an it is to own a Toyota Camry.

Range of 250-300 miles is excellent and on par with gas vehicles. You charge at home for a fraction of the costs of what it costs to use gas.

I'm very much pro electric. It's just that everyone else is 10 years behind.

I actually very much like the Ford Mach E. I think it's a great car. I like the Rivians styling way more than the Teslanew truck.

This isn't even about that. You actually seem to be pretty ignorant about electric cars. Lol

Unless you have some extreme situation, they NOW make sense.

Love it or hate it this will force the big 3 and probably toyota to up their game, thank you Elon. Ford just put out their electric mustang suv, not too long before they adapt that to the f150.

In extreme cold the batteries don't hold their range very well.

However, that's usually an issue with you start to get into the single digits and below. You lose a little range but overall it's still very solid.

I'd be really interested to see what Ford does since they partnered with Rivian on their trucks. Should be sweet.

I could live with reduction in cold weather. As is, I get less than 9 mpg during winter.

It isn't as bad as a lot of people make out. You definitely see reduced range but it's not equivalent to 9mpg bad. Lol.

Also, I don't think you'd see too many issues in PA. More so if you're in Canada or something where it's in the negatives often.

Not really. They just use tires that are quieter. They don't make them specifically. Michelin makes them. They just put them on their cars (and are used for electric cars in general since they're quieter)

I'm fully aware of their capabilities. Ignorance is not my issue with them. The up front cost is a major deterrent, 300 miles is a MINIMUM range for where I live. I never said electric is bad. I said it wouldn't fulfill my needs for a vehicle. I have driven 800 miles in a day and the only electric charging station was in the first 60 miles. How would I have completed the remaining 440 miles of that trip in an electric vehicle? I have spent weeks off the grid. I do haul things often enough and far enough it's not plausible to own an electric truck.
Now, I don't own one so I'm not certain how well they handle extremes of hot and cold with no garage, or how difficult they are to maintain yourself, but I'm guessing they aren't on the same level as a non electric.

You also chose to compare a Camry to compact/subcompact electrics. That's just bad form. Comparing the cost to a much less expensive Yaris or Carolla would be more appropriate, but it would also weaken your argument.

Go do the math comparing the bolt to the Corolla. With fed and tax credits (plus the fact that they're not exactly expensive) I'm willing to bet it's close.

Also, how are you not getting that I'm in agreement with your user case?

Cold weather does affect range but doesn't affect the health of your battery. That's mostly due to the energy to heat the cabin and batteries themselves. However, I'm guessing since your we're talking about the diesel life earlier that you're not apposed to having something plugged in (which you could do with the Tesla)

It's ok. We get it. You live a special life.

I'm just amazed that you took it so personal. You said why it wouldn't work for you. I stated that it will work for many that are not in your exact situation. I was agreeing with you. Lol fuck me.

But seriously. Electric is the future. Whether you or anyone else likes it or not. It's time to embrace it.

I agree electric will be the future. Never said it wasn't.
The only thing I took personal was your assumption of my ignorance. You made that personal and reinforced it. Doesn't really matter though. It's the internet.

The comparison for cost to a Camry is skewed because you aren't comparing like vehicles. You can get a gas vehicle similar to those small electrics for less than the cost of a Camry.

As far as reliability, range, and cost please read https://www.marketwatch.com/story/y...lso-consider-these-unique-expenses-2017-07-06

The data in it comes from a Tesla owner.

What i dont get is why this thing looks like the bastard offspring of 1985 Optimus Prime having a one night stand with a DeLorean , when the rest of Tesla's offerings are actually kinda cool looking.

The "silly" part was a joke, and I didn't take it personal. The assumption of ignorance was not a joke, but I wasn't offended, so no apology needed. I've done some minor verbal sparring with @War Machine @Pinay @TXRailRoads73 @COMiamiFan etc, so trust me, you didn't hurt my feelings.

I can enjoy a lively debate, just as I could enjoy an electric truck if i lived in a city. Out in the big empty stretches it just doesn't work, but I look forward to the advancements that the innovations will inspire through competition. I'm glad Elon is doing his thing it'll light a fire under others and foster some new thinking. I'm just being honest that there isn't an electric vehicle made that is going to make traditional vehicles obsolete...yet. there are some big hurdles to overcome before then. Should be a fun ride.

I do like it from some angles. The back is pretty bad though. I wonder if the looks will grow on me. I have thought pretty much every new truck was ugly for a year or two until the next new model comes out.

I am interested into what options / features this thing has. I do like that it seems to have the driver / passenger experience as a priority. Most of the initial reviews say the interior is huge.
