No thanks. When electric vehicles have been proven for 10+ years of lower overall cost of ownership then maybe.

Wow, he lost me on that one. I was honestly interested. I’m shocked that most of the nerd renderings online the past few years actually look better. A lot better. The electric ATV was the biggest news as far as I’m concerned. Bulletproof with a 9mm? Guess that’s needed in CA. Oh, and the failed window strength tests. Comical.

Elon is a strange cat. Looked high as a kite tonight. A buddy that follows him says his reveals are always like that. And people treat him like a God...the world is a strange place.

Tell you what...that truck makes me even more happy with my recent purchase.

I’m a fan of TESLA and Elon. I like the model S.
This fucking truck (if you can even call it that) is awful looking though. I mean it looks like it be sick to drive on the moon or something but c’mon..

I wouldn’t mind the Tundra going 0-60 in 3 seconds though.

I wish he went with this design. the headlights on it could be bigger but the overall design is significantly more TRUCK looking. that looks like an aztec, avalanche, and an 80's lambo had gangbanged a moon rover

Interesting.. first thing I thought was DMC is back in business and DeLorean was alive and well. Tho he is smiling about this one.

It's different that's for sure. If I had plenty of disposal money why not..

    I posted this on TW:

No doubt some impressive numbers, but EV vehicles have a long way to go before I even consider one for my truck.

14k tow rating for 70 miles between supercharges does nothing for me.

Some people have a truck just to have one. Others have a truck for Home Depot runs, foul weather, light towing. Some use the truck for businesses or solid tow duty.

This is why I can see the next generation Tundra being a hit with the hybrid. It will have all the perks of an EV and none of the downfalls.

That thing is hideous. Looks like a 5 year old's crayon truck made real.

You get me to the same performance, reliability, ease of repair/maintenance, longevity, fuel availability, purchase price, cost of ownership, resale value, etc. as what I have now, and I am not opposed to advanced or alternative fuel sources. Though I don't think you can ever replace the joy of a V8. My $0.02; take it or leave it.

I’ve always wondered how tires hold up on EV or hybrid vehicles. Anyone have a Tesla that can answer that question?

All that instant torque has to be pushing tire mileage warranties hard.

It's instant, but it's also monitored and kept at maximum with no slippage, so it shouldn't be any worse that getting a "perfect launch" in another vehicle with no wheel spin.

I figured it has traction control and torque management.

I’m on my second set of tires at 39000 miles. That hurts the wallet pretty good.

Damn. Yeah, that would get expensive fast. If they were smart about it, which is a gamble for sure, they would do it like the little electric roadster that the Top Gear guys tried out years ago. It had extra computers set to analyze everything and keep max torque and never let the wheels slip. It was pretty impressive actually.

It has to serve as a utilitarian vehicle. Not just in towing, but in payload and cu/ft capacity as well.
