Just speaking about the door lock actuator. I am not sure how reliable they are on the tundras. My understanding this is a common problems with Toyota’s.

I am new to the tundra world, but on my 07 Tacoma I had the actuator go bad 3 times in different doors.

Before you go buy a new part for $300-$400 (Don’t remember exact), do some research on replacing the DC motor inside the actuator. The dc motor is the specific part that is known to go faulty.

Every time my actuator went out, I spent $10 bucks on replacing the actuator instead and it WORKED EVERYTIME no issues!

There is a really good Tacoma video out there where a guy removed the actuator from the door, then took apart the actuator to replace the motor.

The first time I did it, took 3-4 hours, then next times 30m to an hour.

PM me if you have questions.

Everyone keeps telling him to go back to his dealer. He drove 6 hours to get the truck. Didn’t even say if it was from a Toyota dealer, but I guess it had to be for the CPO warranty? But yes go to a local Toyota service center.

    Curse you Perry the Platypus!
Good looking truck! I think you'll be very pleased once these little speed bumps get worked out. All-in-all these are great trucks and you won't be disappointed.

My 2015 bought with 56,000 miles is my first certified pre-owned vehicle, hard to beat the warranty that come with the CPOs, didn't have to use the 12 month bumper to bumper but have used the 7yr up to 100,000 mile powertrain warranty on a rear wheel bearing at 86,000 miles. Deductible is $50 and powertrain warranty is only until vehicle hit 100,000 miles or 7 years from when first purchased. Wish Toyota would warranty their new vehicles similar to how the CPO warranties run.

I believe it was Wolverine Toyota that had the cheapest. But like I said, if you’re under 36k you can buy a warranty from any Toyota dealership. Call every today dealer in the land and see which one gives you the best rate.

Sorry for taking so long to log back in. Yeah the dealer fixed the actuator under warranty. The cold start issue I believe is fixed. It was happening when it got in the teens. We are in the teens now and not having any issues at all. I installed a Readylift 3/2 leveling kit with new 35" tires. Truck looks good and I am looking forward to more mods in the next couple of months. Still looking into the warranty issue. My bank sells extended warranties just like Toyota. Almost the same exact coverage for almost half the price. More to come on that.

They said they did a cleaning of the fuel system. Carbon build up. I don't know. I feel like there may have been a little more to it than that. they claim it was regular maintenance. Time will tell I guess.

If you want the peace of mind go get a mercury mechanical breakdown insurance plan it's like $1400 and it covers EVERYTHING. I've purchased one for every single vehicle because:
    Its transferable
The up front cost us less than any repair incan my myself
It covers aftermarket items to a degree
    It's fairly no questions asked

Originally got one on my silverado. Long traveled it. Preceded to rip shock tower apart and split a spindle. They covered the aftermarket spindle. Then fuel pump. Then motor. They covered it all.

Had it on my tacoma. Never used it. Totaled the truck, they paid me out the remaining 2 years.

Got it in my tundra. They went to bat for me at toyota to fix my sending unit and pump. No money out of pocket for any of it.
