Yeah, I’m probably going to go with it. A price that low worries me a bit.

Washed and sealed her today. That coating is something else.

Had some rain last night. Normally that would require a total re wash with a black truck. I just wiped off the rain drops with some micro fiber towels - looks as good as yesterday after the seal.

FYI - this is the second black vehicle in my life I care about. It’s tough. My wife wants a new vehicle. Steering her towards white.

So honest question here.... But what is your guy's experience dealing with places that do this work? I've been *trying* to pay these guys to do my truck for the last week. Called 4 of the highest recommended shops in my area, and they all barely return my calls, are super flaky, and just give me the sales pitch.

Finally got some word back.... 900 for a 5 year ceramic with ceramic pro and 1600 for a Xpel front bumper, grill, half hood, headlights, fogs, and mirror caps....I know it's the smart thing, but.... ouch...

This is the shop. Their work seems good. Any opinions?

This was incredibly helpful, thanks. I have another quote from a place that is similar, using a different coating (opti-coat), but general same idea.

If you weren't across the country I would seriously offer to pay the driverdog detail shop for their services, and offer free labor.... :)

I'm a little gun-shy about it all to be honest, as I feel like I'm just getting bombarded with bs marketing crap the "warranties." I wish I could spend the time myself to do something like you did with a quality available product, but I don't have the infrastructure at this point in time (truck is parked outside in an alley).

I'm considering the PPF strongly, as I feel that would cover me for rocks and gravel, and maybe the cheap ceramic option just to test the waters.

I second @LEKS on this. I got a CR Spotless for Christmas, and just tried it today. Absolutely amazing. I was able to wash my black truck in broad daylight, and didn’t have to dry it a bit. It air dried completely spotless. I’m rescheduled for next week on my coating. This kit along with ceramic coating should be amazing. It’ll add to the life of the coating as well, since I won’t have to run a towel over it as much.

Funny thing, my wife also got me a couple more Griots PFM drying towels for Christmas, and I don’t have a lot of need for them anymore.

Here’s a close up after air drying:

So another question.... for the guys that have this done and use their trucks in woods.... would a branch interaction completely screw one of these jobs up? Or is it somewhat resistant to light abrasives like that? I know it's not a miracle coating, but am curious as to how sensitive it is.

    Thanks!

    Chris

So CR Spotless is the way to go? I’ve heard great things. That may be my new toy this spring. Which model did you get?

Definitely. It was crazy not having to worry about water spots at all. Also very nice not having to dry the truck. I imagine this combined with ceramic coating really makes everything a breeze.

I got this unit. My wife got it when Autogeek had a 25% off sale.

Was off-roading in the mud and rain this weekend near our cabin. Truck was a mess. After just a 30-minute power wash and Frozen-finger two bucket wash, the results make me smile.
