4Runner for sure. My wife has a 16 and we both love it. She tells me all the time how much she loves it and wouldn’t trade it for any other vehicle.

Same story for me, except recently from a 17 Tacoma to an 18 Tundra. I had had two 2007 Tacomas and a 2010, and the 2017 was awful to drive- underpowered, and the transmission was all over the place and doggy. Springs squeaked like a jalopy from day 1. I still regret trading one of the faithful 2007s for the 2017- it was a totally different driving experience. I’m nervous about what they’re going to do to the 4Runner- I’ve seen talks about copying the Tacoma and moving to the 3.5 and 6spd transmission. They better be careful, Tacoma’s ratings and owner satisfaction has tanked since 2016.

My wife loves our 2015 Taco silver trd sport . To me honest I like the old style rather than the change in 2016 ! Really honest I like the Taco exterior design better than my Tundra

I’d like to note I also had the 16 Tacoma off-road. Loved the look but it was lacking in power for sure. You would regret getting the Taco over the 4Runner.

owning a V8 you get used to the power, the taco and 4Runner sucks ass there but to be fair it’s different classes of vehicles. I was considering a 4Runner limited 4x4 for my wife then I found out about the Lexus GX460, much better, V8 and way more you can get than the taco and 4Runner as far as features with off-road capability.

4Runner isn't the coolest thing but at least its still a body on frame suv. It also has a bunch of aftermarket accessories that the Rav4 doesn't. Not to bash the Rav4 but its not the best looking car.

Never thought about the Lexus...might look into that a bit more. I know the LX570 is quite the pricey suv ($100 000 here in canada)

I guess the way I see it you already have a pickup so it just makes more sense to have a second vehicle that focuses on moving passengers better. I test drove a 2017 Tacoma just to see if the gripes and complaints about the drivetrain were accurate and I actually thought that it had plenty of power.

Engines changed in 2016 for the Tacoma, it has a 3.5 now, the 4runner still has the same 4.0. I had a 2016 Tacoma before my tundra and a few tacomas prior to that. I would get the 4runner as you don't need the bed of the Tacoma since you have the tundra, also even the biggest cab Tacoma the back seat is useless. They are both underpowered as soon as you lift them but if you don't plan on doing that its not an issue. The 4runners also hold their value on the same level as the Tacoma. either way you cant go wrong but I would get the 4runner.

My wife had a GMC Envoy. She absolutely loved that truck to death. We gave it to our youngest daughter and she ran the wheels off it. My wife now has a RAV4. I think I like it more than she does. She wants a 4runner in the worst way. I'm just trying to work it that we can keep the rav4 so the tundra can sit more.

Test driving and driving it everyday are two different things. You can’t really tell the characteristics of the vehicle over a 10-15 test drive. The gripes are warranted. I owned one and it drove me insane.

Less room too. Wife had a RAV4 before the 4Runner. It was a good all around vehicle but love the layout of the 4Runner. That is our beach vehicle.

I love how many of us have 4Runner's for the wife lol

I polled first and then saw about everyone said the same. If I could not have done the tundra i would have done 4 runner over taco. There's a value to a certain amount of interior, lockable room and I didn't want a shell. Plus the pros are pretty tough looking

I just wish fis were still being made

4runner!! I love my wife's. I had a Tacoma before the tundra and the 4runner is a better choice than the Tacoma. And she will be super stoked when you set it up for her.

My woman has been saying she wants to lift hers  I just laugh at her. Once I tell her how much it will be to add beefer tires all that comes with lifting a vehicle, she changes her tune.

Yeah, I thought that too. Blew up on me. She ended up with the XREAS taken off and the ToyTec Eibach 3/1 put on. TRD wheels and Nitto Tera Grapplers.
I did enjoy it and there aren't many 18 Limiteds that are lifted.

Yeah, it's not MY first preference, but MY WIFE likes them because she doesn't need a ladder to get into it. [She's 5 foot tall and rides in my truck a lot.:D] Also, it 'fits' her and still has decent snow capability and a hatchback.

I'm like ... "Whatever. Sure, get it, if you want."

    I'd rather have another 4runner.;)

Wait you mean they changed the tacomas engine and tranny but not the 4runners? I knew they changed the tacomas, but I just assumed the 4runner followed suit.

Bingo. So true. We have the 2015, which we use for work related activities [inspections that take place in some rural, muddy, and snowy areas], and it is takes us through everything.:curls:

Bingo again. It has no competition among SUVs IMO.

Plus, it's totally functional for us as a work vehicle without having to add any money to it after we buy it. [Like, if we got a Taco, we'd have to add a camper shell or bed cover and bed slide, etc.]

That is correct- the 4Runner is still running the set up the last gen Tacoma had. Squeezing everything they can out of of it, just like the Tundra. Like I said in a previous post, I hope they've learned from some of the missteps they took with the new Tacoma and don’t screw up the next 4Runner too.
