ive always liked the look of the tacoma better but its really hard to justify spending the difference of 5k? for the space and more power u get in the tundra. the only advantage tacoma has is looks, crawl control, and slight mileage....just like my mistress.

I bought my 2015 TRD Sport Taco back in ‘17 and my new-to-me 2018 TRD Off Road Tundra last month. $31,600 for the Taco, $32,500 for the Tundra when both were two years old. Tundra had 1/3 the miles (10k vs 27k) and is just an all around better looking, driving, comfortable, capable truck IMO. (The 2018+ LED headlights look/work way better). Probably a bitch to go rock crawling with if youre into that sorta thing vs the smaller truck but I needed it for hauling and towing.
Husband was right. He said ‘youre gonna want a bigger truck’.. i did.

Probably my fault, I paid full book for the Taco because it was the only DCLB Sport in blue I could find in the country and it was so clean underneath that you could eat off it. I actually paid book on the Tundra too for the same reason. 6 months looking for a clean 2018 inferno TRD OR and bought it immediately without question a few hours after they put it up for sale. I'm shit at haggling anyways but whatever.. Made the right choice, I had someone on here actually PM me saying they called to buy my truck but I had already beat them to it.

Both great vehicles; just depends on what your needs/wants are. It sounds like it's time for a Tundra!

Sweet truck. Congrats. The Sport is the way to go.

I've pulled our 22ft trailer all over Colorado and surrounding states with my Sport and it crushes it. Max weight is probably around 5500lbs. We're leaving for a 10 day trip next week. I used to tow the same trailer with my supercharged Tacoma and it's a completely different experience. Set the brake controller, hit tow/haul, and you're ready to go.

I went from a 1st gen Tundra that I had for 12 years to a 2017 Tacoma, missed the V8 and the room for activities so I traded in the Tacoma for the Tundra I have now. No Regurts, 3rd gen Tundy is a beast

Honestly I would have went straight to the Tundra in hindsight but I don't regret having the Tacoma, I learned a lot from having it and over all it was a great little truck, just not for me

Lol. Nevermind. I tried to pull a movie reference on ya.

But yes, No regrets either. I went from a 14 Tacoma to my 20 Tundra. Love it. I do at times miss the smaller compact size. but i would never go back.

Same here, I do miss the smaller size for the tighter trails but that's about it

Both are great trucks though I’ve only had my Tundra for 2 months.

Traded in my 2010 tacoma for a 2020 tundra. I loved my tacoma. Especially the 6’ bed. Came in handy many times. Never gave me a problem. The only issue I had was that the front bearings started going at about 80k miles. The dealership wanted $1,900 and I changed them myself for $250 with the help of you tube.

The tacoma really held its value. I bought it for $25k and I didn’t think I’d get much for a trade in for a 10 year old truck but the dealer gave me $13k. Probably could’ve got more on the street but it wasn’t worth the hassle.

The same tacoma is $35k now so for a few more grand I bought the tundra. Big difference in size and so far I’m very happy. The extra room in the back seat is great now that the little kids that easily fit in the tacoma are tall teens.

Hey guys looking to trade in my 3rd gen taco for a '18 tundra DC. I was looking at the crewmax but its a bit outside my price point for the year and mileage I want. I have couple of questions:

    1. For those that have had both, does the tundra DC have a great deal more room in the rear seats than the taco DC?
    2. Have any of you that got the tundra DC regretted not buying the crewmax?

I have the crew max but I believe the tundra double cab still has about 2 inches or more legroom than the taco and obviously wider

Had 4 Tacomas before I got my 2018 Tundra. Last Tacoma was a 2015 TRD Sport that I had for 6 years.
So far, no regrets at all about getting the Tundra.1.jpg Tundra2.jpg

In your first hand experience, is there more room in the rear of the tundra DC than the taco DC?

Yes more room in the Tundra DC than the Tacoma DC. Huge amount of room with the CM.

If you're fine with the shorter bed in the CM, I'd recommend the CM over DC. The extra space is nice to have when you have adults in the back. Or even a lot of gear for camping or long trips.

Everyone who's ridden in mine says there's too much space in the back seat of the CM.

be nice if there was an option somewhere between the CM and DC on the legroom (3-4" more on DC, 3-4" less on the CM) lol!

My kid hates riding in the Taco because there's too little space in the back. CM is perfect for kids, dog, and gear on the floor.

I have had 08', 12', 15' and now 21' (TRD pro) Tundras. During that time I decided to see what all the fuss was about and got a 2018 Tacoma 4x4 auto and really didn't like the powertrain. Engine seemed to have little torque down low and transmission was definitely not geared or programmed to keep the engine in it's sweet spot. Found a manual 19' TRD Pro Tacoma and thought that was the ticket, but still no luck for me. Engine really needs some revs to make any power, but it is geared like a bonneville salt flats racer. In less than a year I had had enough of Tacomas and moved on to other cars to go along with my Tundra.
I think the 5.7 and 6 speed auto is just about the best powertrain of any vehicle I have ever owned, and the Taco 3.5 and auto is about the worst.
Really looking forward to the 2.4 turbo and hopefully appropriate transmission/tuning for the next gen as I really like a smaller truck option.

I have had both (and 4 tacos) but currently have the DC.
    1. Yes it has more room than the taco as I fit back there just fine. Was not so easy in the taco.
    2. No regrets at all. The DC is my favorite of the two. Love the longer bed and does every thing I need it to do. Also I think it looks better but I may be a little partial.
