So all my life the only truck I've owned are tacomas. I love the size and the look of the truck. Recently things have kinda changed. I go camping a few times a year usually not much farther then 50 miles away and my camper is 4800lbs dry. The taco does ok but not perfect. Anyways my lease is going to be up and I'm really in love with the army green Tacoma, but I'm starting to think if I continue to want to go camping and do towing and stuff maybe I should get a tundra. How many people here switched from a taco to a tundra? Is the ride any better? Anyone regret it? Thanks guys

My 2nd Gen taco was great and I was convinced that I didn't need anything else. But it got rear ended and I ended up with a 2020. Best choice I made. Tundra is the more superior truck. IN. EVERY. WAY.

Drive a Tundra. I had never driven a Toyota so I drove both before I decided. The choice was easy.

Yeah I thought about that but around here at least they barely discount the pros. The taco pro is around 46k and the tundra pro is like 53k. I was considering getting a tundra limited tho I hate the chrome it's the closest thing to the fully loaded taco off road I have now. I would love the get the pro in either lol. But I'm thinking there's prob more wiggle room to haggle the limided vs the pro.

I do gotta ask tho is the gas mileage really that bad? I mean my taco isn't my DD and I average idk 16-18 city. When towing I average 10-11.

I went from an 07 tacoma to an 08 tundra. Better ride, more comfortable, worse mpg city, better mpg towing. I loved my tacoma, but would have got a tundra the first time around if I couldve afforded it then. My folks Crew Max Limited gets better mpg city, hwy, and towing than my Tacoma got.

I have a 2019 Tacoma TRD Off Road that my wife drives and recently decided to switch from a Benz SUV to another truck for myself, and got the 2020 Tundra TRD Pro. Let me tell you, especially for a big guy like me, I will *never* drive my wife's Tacoma again. Don't get me wrong, the Tacoma is a cool as hell truck. But the Tundra TRD Pro is freakin awesome! Rides so smooth, V8 engine with the dual exhaust roars, the interior is super roomy and sporty. Love it!!

You can always split the difference and get a Gen II Tundra. It’s like that kid who had a beard in fifth grade. Bigger than a Tacoma but not quite all the way there yet like a Gen III Tundra. If you want new, go test drive a Gen III Tundra In whatever configuration you need and you won’t want the taco ever again.

Welcome from The Great State of Texas. I drove a 2007 Tundra for 10 years then thought I needed something smaller. Bought a 2017 Tacoma TRD Off Road 4x4. Terrible mistake, went back to Tundra January 2020 and very happy again.

the TRD Sport will get you away from all of the chrome but not all of the fancy stuff that limited/platinum has.

I switched and I don't regret it one bit.

The Tacoma is not a good towing vehicle. the camper will be so much easier to pull behind the Tundra.

Test drive and see how it feels to you.

Toyota ruined the Tacoma when they put the minivan motor in it. An they still have not fixed the ergonomics. An it still has drum rear brakes doesn't it? Pretty sure it does. It also gets about the same MPG as the 5.7 Tundra. Sad. All this adds up to, the Tacoma sucks. I would buy a Ford Ranger over the Tacoma if I was shopping a midsize. (Full disclosure--I have owned 4 Tacomas- never again)

Go Tundra. I just switched after being in Tacomas for 12ish years, both 2nd and 3rd gens. Yes it's bigger and the gas mileage is a bit worse, but the pros outweigh the cons by far.

Any 1st or 2nd gen Tundra with a V8 would be preferable, the size of the 1st gen Tundra will be easier for you to adjust to because the 2nd gen Tundra are HUGE.

Had a second gen Tacoma for 12 yrs, looked at both Tacoma and Tundra, ended up with a Tundra. I had reservations about the size and mpg, but I don't even care about those anymore. The size visually looks like a big deal, but actually driving it isn't much different. Tundra has the best turning radius of the full sizes (bout the same as a DCLB Tacoma) , so it was an easy transition.

I went from the Tacoma to a Tundra, no regrets at all absolutely love it. The size and motor make it great, and gas is a small price to pay for it all. I towed back and forth from North Carolina gas was less than 10mpg but no issues.

Came from a 2010 Tacoma here. I think anyone who appreciates a Tacoma will similarly appreciate the Tundra for alot of the same reasons. Main reason I switched is size/space for my family.. Plus the added power and towing capacity is a plus. I do miss the manual transmission sometimes but the V8 power pretty much takes care of that.. It rides better IMO an you still have the value and reliability.. Sure gas millage is not great but my Tacoma wasn't anything spectacular either. I have no regrets. I think the Tacoma is nice in that it's easier to get around in tight spaces or off-road if that's your thing.

I love the Tacoma but the Tundra is sooo worth it! Just don't drive like a maniac and the gas mileage isn't all that bad for a full size truck. You won't regret it. Go ahead and get the Army Green PRO.

I had a 2010 Tacoma I don't regret the Tundra one bit. If you care about gas mileage and don't need the space and v8 power go Tacoma. I do miss my Tacos manual transmission!

I have a 2015 Taco and a 2018 Tundra. Get the tundra. It burns more gas but not as much as you think. On a long trip the tundra is 10x more comfortable. For towing you don't worry about weights as much. If you have kids then all the car seats fit in the back of the crewmax. Four grown adults can go on a road trip in total comfort. Road noise is literally 1/2 that of a Taco. With the beer virus floating around you can probably get a pretty solid deal on one.

I traded a 2014 Tacoma double cab TSS 4x4 for a 2015 Tundra crewmax TSS 4x4. Both are SR5s. Totally worth it. Luckily I wasn’t upside down on my loan. I wouldn’t go back to a Tacoma. I felt cramp with passengers and the windshield was small.

she’s asking who had a Tacoma and switched over to a tundra.

90% of the guys here all came from Tacoma’s with real life experience in both trucks. 90% of the Tacomaworld folks have a bias opinion towards the Tacoma’s without ever owning a Tundra.
