I'll say it again, the problem with the taco is that my kids have legs. Even my 8 year old won't fit in that thing. And there isn't enough head room in the front. If there was enough room inside, I'd own one.

:oldglory:I had 2 newer Tacoma (15 & 17) I started to tow a TT with my 15 Sequoia it did a great job. Since it was my wife vehicle. I decided to sell the 17 Taco and get a 18 Tundra. I have towed the TT across country twice and the Tundra with the trailer break built-in was the best.
Both the Sequoia and the Tundra have the 5.7 liter engines.

Had a 2017 Tacoma and now have a Tundra Crew Max. Would never go back. The power and space inside is very noticeable and the Tacoma wasn't that much better on gas considering the size difference.

It depends on how your drive is. My work is a 20 mile round trip drive. I don't do normal long trips in my Tundra ( i have the 38 gallon) but if I did have long drives, I would want the bigger tank. Nothing more annoying on a road trip than having to stop every two hours to fill up.

Not reading this entire thread just gonna add my to cents. The Tacoma is under powered in my option. Sometimes I felt like it couldn't get out of its own way.

My wife and I debated too but when we saw how small the inside the Tacoma was compared to the Tundra it was a no brained.Plus I love a big V8! We love the tundra we purchased this year and do not regret it one bit!

Sold my 2015 TRD Sport Taco in March after owning it a few years for a 2018 TRD OR Tundra. I'm constantly hauling lumber and equipment and, while the Taco was a great grocery-getter, it wasn't enough truck. Wasn't able to tow my 6,000# tractor or 7,000# camper (safely) either and it felt cramped even though i'm only 5'3".

As far as the gas mileage gripe.. it's a truck. It's 2mpg worse than my Taco. I have a '79 Scout that gets single digit mpgs so maybe i'm just used to 'gallons per mile' but I knew what I was getting into with the 5.72018TRD.jpg

Based off of the grille and color matched, looks to be a TRD Sport.

But with a nice lift and tires  @Bluedevils4life

I was in the same place. I had a 4Runner and got sick of towing a UTV/Trailer behind it. It's only 3,000lbs but I felt every.single.pound.

My hunting buddy has a 2020 Taco TRD and I towed the trailer/UTV with it a few times.. it was better than the 4R, but I still felt like it was incredibly heavy and sluggish.

I actually test drove a few vehicles when I went to upgrade. I ended up taking a 2020 Taco TRD, a 2017 Land Cruiser, and a 2018 Tundra 1794 home over a couple of days and kept them overnight. I hooked up the trailer/utv to each and dragged it around town and up and down the highway. The Taco remained a Taco... loved it, but it's still a V6 and felt underpowered. The Land Cruiser was a BEAST and we seriously debated it that night. I ended up coming to the conclusion that I didn't want to load up dirty waders, muddy clothes, and hunting boots inside a $70,000 vehicle.

Ended up with the Tundra and am thrilled with the purchase. Honestly, if you are going to tow (even occasionally) anything over 3,000 lbs and don't want to feel like you're killing your motor and tranny at anything over 60mph, get a Tundra. The fuel mileage in my Tundra vs my buddy's Taco isn't even that different, and I have a MUCH bigger fuel tank.

I guess at the end of the day, I'd rather lose 1-2 mpg in regular driving but have a significant boost of HP and torque than the other way around. Zero regrets. I have no doubt that had I gone the Taco route, I would have kicked myself every time I hooked up.. which is basically every weekend.

I went from a 06 Tacoma to a 18 Tacoma and to be honest I hated it , loved my 06 though. Kept it for 7 months and ditched it for a 18 platinum tundra and could not be happier.

I have a platinum, because the TRD Pro was going to cost just way too much and I would not get my supplier discount. So it was a no brainer for me to go with a platinum and build my own suspension the way I would want it to be. My wife and I are happy with are decision! The last step is to put on the black out badges in the next week or two.

I ended up with a 19 PRO after years of researching including seriously considering a 3rd gen Taco. I test drove many. Sat in them long enough the dealer was getting worried we were trying to live in it.

I think the Taco is (personal preference) the best looking truck of any size, make, model, and by a wide margin.

But I need room for a family. And the back seat doesn't cut it. The front seats only got some adjustability in 2020.

For a long road trip I couldn't see it being feasible.

We will likely opt for another 4runner for a second vehicle instead of a Taco.

I miss my 2nd gen tacoma... Biggest mistake of my life 'upgrading' to a 3rd gen. Can't complain since I have a tundra now but if I had kept that 2nd gen I wouldn't have a tundra. Live and learn.... You better like the way a car drives otherwise you'll despise it.

Hahhaa I had the truck done. Just how I wanted it. Then the wife said number 2 is on the way. I was like yup should have seen that coming. But had it 6 years lost 3k on it not a bad sale

Hated the Taco, had it leased and swapped it to someone in less than 6 month. Wonky transmission, no power, crappy mileage and no room. Looking to buy a tundra this weekend

I had a 2018 Tacoma OR after owning a 2011 and a 2014. The 2nd gens were ok, a little underpowered but liveable. I Hated the 2018, the constantly shifting transmission, dropping down into lower gears at the least bit of a hill, hanging in lower gear after cresting hill and the gas mileage wasn't all that much better than my new 2019 Tundra OR (Cement!). I plan on keeping the Tundra for a long time.

Well still no tundra :( I got approved but there's no Calgary blue sport crewmax within a 500 mile radius with everything I want. There is however one being built that has the trd exhaust and stuff so the dealer is going to see if they can secure that one for me. May be awhile but I'm sure it'll be worth the wait :)

I went from a 2004 Tacoma reg cab/5 speed/4 cylinder stripper truck to a 2011 Double Cab 4wd Tundra. I don't have a family but I wanted a back seat with my new truck. 2000's/early 2010's Tacoma crew cabs(I hate those backwards "suicide door" small cab Tacomas with crap back seats) were about the same price as a larger Tundra.

Main thing was I found the Tundra to be so much more comfy in drivers seat department, plus the config of Tacoma I wanted(4 door crew cab with longest bed option) wasn't that much shorter than the double cab/reg box Tundra.

Gas mileage wasn't SIGNIFICANTLY better on a V6 Tacoma. I get 16mpg in city driving with my 2011 4.6 V8 4wd Tundra. My old 2.4 4 cylinder 2wd Tacoma did 23-25mpg in city driving, I will gladly pay that fuel bill for driving a much nicer truck

Well within a 500-mile radius there are four of them. One is out of competitors lot so they can't acquire that one another one is on hold for a customer another one doesn't have the spray-on bedliner and the fourth one is available but for some reason it has like 200 miles on it and when I was looking at the pictures it look like there was a small stain on the front seat and I'm like yeah no I'm not doing that with a brand new truck. There is however in my area few voodoo blues. I think because I'm looking for the convenience package as well that's what's making a little bit harder cuz I do see some without it.
