True it depends on where you intend to use the truck. The TRD’s are really intended for off road capabilities and it’s always be on a stiffer ride.
As I have a 2012 TRD off road they drive stiffer compared to the non TRD’s mine didn’t have the front TRD sways just the Oem bilstein.

I did put a rear Hellwig Sway Bars thought at stiffest setting. Truck drives on road fantastic.
But for off road I loose some rear shock articulation best to remove it for serious off road is intended.

I’ve been doing research about this set up most of the reviews I read leads to better or improved comfort ride compared to Oem. I guess it’s worth the money if your looking for a good set up in road and off road.

I wish I can do the 5160 but it can only do with a 1.5” lift. I intend to do a 3/2 with shims in front and 3+ shackles.
    To get the 3/2 rake.

I put the TRD rear sway bar on a few months ago. I drive 80% pavement 20% off road. That 20% co sisrs of dirtroads, washed out logging roads, and fields, so nothing real crazy. I also drive the highways with a heavy foot.
The sway bar is by far the best money I've spend on an accessory. It helped enormously in bends keeping the truck on rails through corners.
My opinion is do it unless you do some serious off-road driving. Install is also easy and only took an hour.
Cheapest place I found it was from coolsprings Toyota.

For a superior experience on pavement I dropped the rear, and added a rear sway bar plus air bags. Even with LT M/S tires the truck grips the road surface as well as most muscle cars, big fun to drive.

What brand of swaybars you used?

    Anyone here used hellwig swaybars?
    The stiffest setting is amazing.
The truck is like a sports car at the curves. So amazing to drive the truck now.

The TRD one fits a lot of the trucks I build with 3”/1” tuff country lifts.

I would imagine one with the 3”/2” will fit as well.

I just put the 7700 Hellwig Model on the 02’ and this bar is solid heavy duty. The rear is well planted and body roll is highly reduced. Mine is on the ‘loosest’ setting and its very firm because the OEM front sway bar is working in conjunction. Might experiment with the stiff setting soon just to see how it reacts.

I had mine intially at the softest setting for 2 years. I just recently changed the setting to the stiffest. Man I was surprised and said to myself why haven’t I done this sooner.

The truck handled much better it even corrected the bed bounce of the truck!

I can run 60 miles on a curve without my nuts being on my throat! Lol

I have stock front sway bars, opinion on TRD or Helwig, TRD are a little cheaper (limited budget) but not wild about red. just looking for some help in towing a travel trailer (small light weight) and on road sway. I don't do any heavy duty offroad. I do notice quite a bit of sway at high speeds on freeway ramps etc?

If you don’t have the rears yet, get the TRD ones. The front Sway bars doesn’t make a HUGE Noticeable difference like the rears..

Well, that helps, one vote for each...lol...seriously guys,. thank you for any and all input. I read somewhere that one of the sway bars, I think the TRD is not compatible with the factory installed trailer hitch, my 2016 has the tow package and I believe it was factory installed...

I just installed the rear sway bar on my 2019 SR5 with the towing package and it fit perfectly. Also added a set of Firestone air bags while I was under there.

You will be amazed with the stiffest setting bed bounce is completely eliminated and the truck is so planted I can do a curve at 70 miles without my feet on the brakes.

I’ve since moved the setting up to the middle notch and its stiffened things up even more. I’m very happy with it it where it is. Handles so nice.

I am in the process of putting a Hellwig 7700 on my 2006 Toyota Tundra because of the sway/roll I experienced when cornering. I researched this brand and I think this is the only brand made in the USA that will fit the 1st Gen Tundra. If anybody there knows of any brand made in the USA that can surpass Hellwig, please let me know. I'm getting it ASAP this month:oldglory:.

Stiffer ride of course, A sway bar limits articulation and essentially ties both rear wheels together so to speak. I was tired of rocking back and forth through turns or changing lanes. Sometimes I felt the control on the stock setup was lacking on road. TRD Rear sway bar is the best MOD I have done to date. No regrets whatsoever. Improves handling with minimal ride comfort sacrifice (although you will lose comfort). I waited a long time to do the TRD Front sway bar due to mixed reviews but I'm kicking myself for waiting this long. Handling is just amazing! A stiff ride but it corners like a dream and maneuvers like a much smaller vehicle. I also off road and all I can say is if you're off roading for the sake of offroading you might not want the sway bars due to limited articulation, but I do go offroad frequently and the sway bars don't keep me from getting around. I'm not out testing my truck but I do bomb washboard roads at like 40mph, sway bars are fine. Also who can say no to that beautiful undercarriage jewelry!!??

You can never go wrong with the Hellwig dont look any further thats the best there is. Other than the TRD sways that pales to the thickness of the bar of Hellwig
Both serves the same purpose though.

Pros - reduces swaying - tightens up chassis

Cons - stiffer/choppier ride on the street.

I ended up selling my rear bar after a few months as I preferred the ride without it.

Sorry, noob here...what does it mean when ride gets "stiffer?" I'm on the fence about the sway bar...
