You caught me, my Fluid Film ratio is off.

The Lower Control Arms came yesterday. First time I’ve ever had a normal FedEx delivery on a Sunday. McGeorge packed them incredibly well too. Boxes in boxes with bubble mailers and the whole bit.

Okay so need some hive brain action here. We've got everything put together. When the front springs decompress (truck jacked up) it raises the front up significantly, but once the front compresses back down (remove jack, drive it, or put some weight into it) it lowers back down to about where it was previously. Measured 20" from hub to fender.

The shop here assembled the front shocks/coils. The coils that came with the B8 6112 shocks have E4-FD1-Y436B00 etched into them. These were all inside a Bilstein box.

AutoAnything 100% stated it fits my 05 Double Cab when I purchased. Now it shows not available (Sold out? Incompatible? Who knows).

Essentially, the current thought here in Knoxville is these coils are not rated for the Double Cab. I can no longer confirm it on AutoAnything, I can't find it on Bilstein's site, and Google/Bing searches aren't showing these exact coils. Just coils that start similarly.

I cannot find confirmation one way or the other that these Bilstein coils fit the 05 Double Cab. I cannot find this number on the Bilstein website. I cannot find this number anywhere in Google.

Does anyone have any insight into this? @Tundra2 said, " @Darkness is like super smart and will immediately know this without a doubt 'cause he's so awesome."

lol well @Tundra2 put Dot 4.05 (mix of my 5.1 and the 3 for the bleed) in his eyeball this morning. As well as a taste of some coolant yesterday. It's what fuels his Kentucky wrenchin'.

Edit: My thought right now is I am going to talk to Rocky Top Customz tomorrow, get their input. Have them look at them at the situation.

Maybe I'll hold off for now and deal. Then plan new knuckles in the not so distant future. Swap them out, show up with new coils to RTC and have them assemble new coils on the existing shocks and re-align.

Step 1 is to confirm that you have the correct coils. If AutoAnything can't help with that you can always call Wheelers or Toytec to ask them what the coil says on it for that kit.

From there, step 2 is to decide of you need the coils bumped up a notch or two to add some height. You'll have to figure out step 1 first.

Poked around and bilsteinlifts.com had some pics.

Your part number is 2wd specific...

But is it 2WD & V8 + Double Cab supported? While not definitive, or if you have a fancy bumper like @FirstGenVol
Coils.jpg , but the unassembled option specifically states it is 650# coils.

I'm going to see if I can get something different to show up quickly as I have a trip back to Iowa planned for this Saturday, and I almost want to just return the whole damned thing to AA out of spite.

Pretty sure you’re not supposed to mix dot 5 with anything. Dot3 and dot4 are interchangable.

Yeah, I'm fairly certain between the bleeds both yesterday and today the Dot 5.1 is gone and only 3 is in the system. We put probably 50oz through the system of Lucas DOT 3.

The brakes are basically same. I didn't really drive it hard due to the pending alignment, and everything kind of out of whack. So it would be unfair to really critique anything one way or the other. I will say that we discovered the rear passenger self-adjuster is not...self adjusting currently. So that needs to be dealt with. The driver side seems to still be CLOSELY dialed in, but could be tweaked a bit more.

When I moved down to Knoxville earlier this year the brakes were fantastic, and that was with the Dot 5.1 in the system. I might have heated the brakes up a bit with the heavier load and long/steep hills coming into Tennessee...but hard to say really if the 5.1 made any real difference.

The reason I went with 5.1 when I redid brakes was because I basically wanted as many variables eliminated as possible. I knew the system had just been bled with DOT 3 before I bought the truck so I went with 5.1 to change it up.

@jpink I just realized that my ICON's are only 650lb coils. Even with the bumper, skid plates and sliders it's been fine. I'm thinking that you may just need the Bilsteins moved up a clip. We need to check with some Double Cab members.

    @Festerw @FrenchToasty @des2mtn

Are 650lb coils adequate for double cabs?

Lowest setting. Our thought this weekend was to avoid changing the clip setting until further confirmation on coils could be made since not even the Bilstein website had any results returned on the part number for these coils.

The OME 885 on mine are rated at 590 and I have them on stock height shocks. They still ended up a little over 2”.

I would seriously consider getting a die grinder, wire wheel cup and and air compressor to wire brush off the end of the frame holding the lower control arms. Not an area you want to fail with rust.

You can then coat it in POR-15 and not worry about it for several years until you need a retouch-up. Just my two cents.

Just to give you an idea of what I've done...

Dot 5.1 is not as critical as Dot 5

I don't really see a reason to use Dot 5.1 our trucks don't demand much of the fluid. Just flush it fairly regularly and anything will do fine.

I think 600lb coils might be okay with a DC, but it really depends on the length of the coils. I was recently surprised to learn that some guys in those heavy turd gens are running 600lb coils in longer lengths to get lift with a plush ride.

Can you post a pic of your coil with the truck on the ground? One of those where you turn all the way left and take a pic on the driver side so we can see all the action?

Makes sense. OEM springs are 333-369mm in length vs 395mm at a higher spring rate.

Agreed on all accounts here. I run Dot 3 as it's available at every gas station, and service place I go. Tractor supply, Rural King, etc. A Dot 3 fluid is a Dot 3 fluid regardless of brand. They all have to be tested and approved. Good enough for the farm tractor, good enough for me. Ya know?
