Yeah, I was thinking of trying some of those adhesive bumpers.

I’ve done a pretty deep dive on this and I think it is mainly due to the iphone 12/13 “camera bump” that ever so slightly lifts the body of the phone away from the coil of the wireless charger. This camera bump also causes issues with magnetic mounts. So not sure if the bumpers/a way to keep the phone from sliding will make a difference.

Sparks parts lists a disclaimer/warning on the product page but I went ahead and ordered anyways

This is also not unique to this specific charger. iPhone 12/13 users are having the same issue with the OEM chargers of multiple makes/models, especially the horizontal enclosed tray design.

I’ve pretty much given up on it, and am hoping the Apple finds a way to make the camera lenses more flush in the next models.

I’m honestly thinking of going a pseudo-DIY method at this point. Shelled out for the actual Apple MagSafe charger and am planning to mount that in the Vehicle OCD center console tray and feed the cord to the 12v source there. Phone will be inside the center console, but my wireless CarPlay dongle (carlinkit 3.0) has been working pretty well so far.

The OEM charging pad looks great, definitely annoying to have to turn it off when not in use, but hopeful that it will be useful in the future…

    Working on it
Just found this thread after searching for a MagSafe compatible wireless charging tray. I’ve fought with this for a while now. Got the OEM tray charger almost immediately after purchasing in 2019 when I had a non MagSafe iPhone with wireless charging. The tray worked great with or without a case, phone moving around, etc. Then I got a 12 Pro Max and the problems started. I’ve tried everything to get this to work. I’m 100% convinced it’s MagSafe causing the problems. If anyone has a recommendation, please share.

It’s a love hate relationship, I have the iPhone 14pro max, the cameras are bigger and stick out more so doesn’t have flush contact with the charger. Might be selling mine.

That's where I'm leaning against this as well. I WANT IT, don't need it. I also have a Pixel 6 Pro with basically the same camera bulge, plus a wallet phone case. If my phone were any bigger, it wouldn't fit in that space at all

I have a couple questions regarding this wireless charger maybe someone can help. It looks like it comes with a wire and small harness that ties into the rear center console (backseat) 12v cig port wire (pics, not mine).

Question 1- Consider the style of hook up, Does installing the wireless charger render the rear 12v cig port useless?

Question 2- If it doesn’t, and the rear cig port still works as normal, can you use the wireless charger and rear 12v cig port simultaneously? Thanks.

In an answer to your questions.

    1. No it does not render the 12V port useless.

    2. Yes you can use both at the same time. I have had one phone charging on the wireless charger and two phones plugged into the 12V port with no issues.

The issue is with the phone itself not working with certain chargers. This is the same as when an iPhone won't charge with a non Toyota cable. The cable is still good, but the phone is not allowing it. That is the same issue here. The technology in the phone doesn't want to allow it to charge.this is what sparks parts just told me.

There should be a power outlet fuse in the under-dash fuse box..

I added the wireless charger to the top of my center console and piggybacked it off the 12v socket.

The pigtail has a fuse but it isn't shorted
I've checked every fuse under the dash drivers side

Neither the charger nor the socket are getting powa

And both were working for months

sounds like it has to be a fuse. Did you try replacing the fuse for the outlets even though it doesn’t look to be shorted? I would also check fuses on the engine bay compartment if you haven’t done so

    It's crazy
I've literally checked every single flipping fuse in all 3 fuse box locations and not one has been shorted/burned
Every single one is perfectly fine
Going to take apart the console again in a bit and check all the wiring. Perhaps a rat has chewed something off

    That's odd.
Maybe you have a bad connection in the adapter for the charger.
It plugs into the existing wiring for the rear outlet.
Pull the console back off and check those connections..
Maybe even check the OEM plug for voltage and then the adapter end that plugs into the outlet..
Also, make sure the ground is good.

You’ll likely have to test continuity at each fuse that supplies the console; many have had similar instances where the fuses looked fine but when testing continuity found that they were blown
