The difference is sealed box is a cleaner bass.....where the ported bix will be louder and a deeper rumble type bass

Meh.. Its true if a sealed box is correct for your goals. Like if you want your sub to handle a wide range to meet up with you mids better then yeah. That'll be cleaner and reproduce a larger range of the notes at a more equal volume.

But if you have the room to spare and mids and tweets that can reach down a bit lower, then a ported/vented can be tuned to dig deep and accurately and with authority.

The output can actually be up to 6db at around the tuning.

Hell if you really got the room to spare... Quarter wave transmission line box... Maaan oh man! Slap an 8" sub in there and let everyone think you got 2 10's or a 12".

I need to finish my box now that i think about it...

James at tech12volts did a great job. Ended up with two JL 12wt3's. Sounds amazing.

Is anyone running the ********* 1000W amp with these set ups? I like how the amps can be mounted under the seat and still have a cargo area under the backseat.

I have 2 JL amps, one mounted under each front seat. It is best to use a material to isolate the amp from the truck such as wood or plastic or other non conductive material.

Appreciate the info. Hopefully in the next month our so I'll be doing my upgrade. Was trying to go with all the same brand name but reading the reviews on those JL subs I'm sold. I'm a kicker fan and was trying to go all kicker but I think I may be changing brands. Still going to do some research.

Clean install. I m betting you are running at 4ohms, because one of your amps put out 1500 watts at 2ohms, and you have two. Sometimes I think I m my own worse enemy. I ve been hung up for some time reading about amplifier/sub matching. It seems that getting the rms numbers as close to each other as posible, with amp a little higher to avoid clipping, is the way to go. Not sure how you wired it all up, but one of your amps output 850 watts while one sub max (warranted) rms is 500 watts. I ve read in a few different places that 150% is as high as one should go when it comes to amp / sub rms matching. In your case 850/500=1.7, or 170%. Just don t let no one mess with those amps.

Went with a pair of 12 " pioneers. They are flat down to 16hz. They do a great job.

I have a 2018 Toyota Tundra crewmax, and I was wondering what 12 inch subs would be recommended for my box. I just bought the box recently and I haven’t found subs that are shallow mounts that would fit. Any recommendations??
