Looking for Sub recommendations for my 2019 Crewmax. What do you have? I just replaced all the factory speakers with infinity Perfects, Audio Control DSP D4.800 amp, I have an Audio Control LC1.1500 for the subs so power is not an issue. Looking for audio quality not volume. I'm considering the JL stealth box with two 10w3's but curious if anyone has them and what do you think or would you recommend?

I am running 2 JL 10w1 subs in a box built by James at tech12volts. I believe @Danimal86 in running the JL stealth box. If I had the funds at the time, I. May have done the 10w3 subs

Looks great. Thanks for the info. I messaged the team at tech12volts to see what they recommend. I'll let you know what I decide.

I've got the stealth box. It's extremely well made and sounds great. You can save a lot by going with the same subs and a non jl box.
If you have that much power to play with, I'd maybe look into the two 13tw5's in a sealed box. That thing would SMASH!

JL is always a good choice. Focal seems to be a pretty high end option as well

How much of a bass head are u? I have 2 10w3 powered by 1000/1 JL amp and they pound pretty good for the amount of room we have.

James at tech12volts has offer to build a box for two JL 12TW3's for a great price. I'm going to give that a shot. Ordering next week. I will let you know how it sounds but to answer your question Yes I like it loud but I'm going for audio quality this round.

Thanks for the advice but I really want a sealed box. I just like that tighter sound.

A properly built ported box will sound better than a dime a dozen sealed box and get louder doing it. The old rule of thumb that sealed is tighter than ported is highly outdated.

Won’t fit behind the seat. It’s too deep. Plus, the back of the box needs to be flat and the front angled to match contours of the back wall and seat

I have the stealth box with the w3s and love it. I originally had the kicker shallow mounts but these are much better. Hit harder and crisper sound.

It really comes down to the sub itself. Many will work in either box type but even those often slightly favor one more than the other.

You can get a good idea by checking the Thiele/Small (T/S) parameters. Most respectable brands have that info available via online.

The Q values (qts, qms, qes). They are the measurements of, in a nut shell, its damping. Like struts and shocks.

QTS of .4 and lower tend to favor ported boxes.

    QTS between .4 - .7 favor sealed.

QTS of .7 and above free air.

This isn't an absolute, though, and it doesnt mean a sub can't work properly in the box opposite to what the numbers suggest. But in most cases it is a good indicator of which enclosure type it will prefer.

    If anyone was ever curious...

I have the 10" shallow box powered off my amp under front seat. It is enough for me. I could even send more power to the sub but it does not need it.

I went with the following and have loved the sound... I get huge compliments from everyone that rides in my truck!

    10W1V3-4 - JL Audio 10" Single 4-Ohm X 2 (Amazon)
Q Power Dual 10" Ported Enclosure for 2014-2016 Toyota Tundra Crew Max Trucks with Spray Liner Finish (Amazon)
I had to add a ring between the box and sub, to accommodate the depth of the subs. I sealed everything around the speaker rings and it hits hard! I also made a DIY plug to test sealed vs ported and the subs performed better in a ported enclosure.

If your interested in the jl 10tw3, then definitely checkout the stereo integrity BM mkV.

Both in the same price range but have some interesting differences. Both are outstanding sub's.

Yeah, all round high quallity gear from Stereo Integrity but not very known outside of the high end audio community.
