I haven't gone through this entire thread, but I have always been skeptical of aftermarket intakes... but even more so these days when engine power is determined and limited by the ECU map. So, I guess I don't see how an intake, even if really less restrictive, would make any difference unless you put in a tune to allow pushing past factory programmed limits. Unless I am missing something. In any case that would be foolish from a warranty perspective... and we really have tons of power already.

 

Yeah, this thread isn't really about intakes in general, though. Stillen released theirs for the new Tundra and Eddie and a few others were sort of early adopters. It was poorly produced and doesn't even fit properly. Stillen has yet to make it right.

 

Yeah, I got that part. But I don't see how Stillen can claim any performance benefit unless they also provide a tune.

 

...and don't forget to mention the fact that Stillen continues to have that defective product for sale currently on their site. I'm curious to know if they are actually sending out these defective units to buyers after it's already been acknowledged to be defective.

Just emailed her and got an auto reply from someone else at Stillen...and they are out until Monday...who knows but I'll post once I hear back.

 

Several comments back, you'll see @eddiefromcali confirmed she's no longer with Stillen and that this Austin fella is supposed to fill her shoes but he has yet to reach out to anyone.

they’ve tried several times to remedy the issue with the vendor to no avail. No follow up from said vendor….

Really disappointed with Stillen peoples money… Did not expect such conduct from Stillen. Maybe we can change the title of this thread to the model number/name Stillen has it listed in their website. That way anyone making future purchases will see this thread if they do a google search.

Talked to Austin. Should have an update from R&D in a few mins. Idk why he hasn't been on here, but at least I was promised info

 

Finally back state side, called and left a VM since no one picking up the phone

I called in again and got someone from sales. Basically stated to sit tight and he would look into it more as the R&D had not updated him on the list of fixes. He said they have the list of those that got a v1 intake and would contact me when he knew more but it was not his department so he couldn’t give me details.
He did say no need to send back anything and that would likely get a whole new system but didn’t have anything definitive in terms of a corrective plan and next steps but would call me today for update.

Y'all all have the patience of a saint. I would have long-ago disputed with my credit card company to get my money back and I would have sent the shit back to Stillen with freight due at delivery. I'd be rockin' the K&N air box setup by now if I had such a hard-on for an intake like y'all. This whole thing is a major charlie foxtrot.

I think I've only seen one person say they are actually running the kit as is. Anyone else?

 

Had the exact same issue with the Stillen intake on my '21 Tundra. None of the dimensions were exact enough to get a flush seat or seal with the fender opening.

AFE's products have a lot tighter tolerances, at least on my Taco. Everything fit/sealed very well
