    Here are my initial impressions.

    Bolts did not fit through the original sized hole...being that the plate is aluminum, I was able to thread the bolts through but this allowed for ZERO margin of error when lining up the air box lid to the adapter. Plus, two threaded parts will never compress against each other if installed this way...they will simply be next to each other. The kit does not come with any sort of gasket material to seal these two parts together...I would plan on making your own or just running a bead of silicone around the mounting surface on the lid. No potential for water/unmetered/hot air this way.
    20240806_231444.jpg
    20240806_231601.jpg

    Had to drill out the holes with a 5/16 bit to get enough wiggle room for the bolts to line up and not thread into the adapter. This wasn't powder coating impacting clearances...hole was way too small. 1/4 drill bit opened up the hole a bit but that wasnt enough...had to go with 5/16 in the end. If you dont have a drill and drill bits, you wont be able to get this installed if your kit is like mine.
    20240806_231917.jpg
    20240806_231844.jpg

    The passenger lid refused to stay latched on. Simple tap on the lid caused the single latch to release. I made sure everything was lined up correctly and it just would not lock down.

    Because of this and the driver side coupler not lining up with the lid, I was not able to install it. I didn't even get to the scoop install...I was just trying to get the lids in place. I think a gasket where the lid and box meet will solve this. Sorta like that the oem air filters have. That would get rid of the play and provide an air tight seal.

    Another thing to point out is how close the lid is to the coolant tank...no doubt that these two components will make contact under driving conditions. Not sure how severe of an issue this might be, but with the box on all 3 of its rubber isolators and the lid latched on, I might be able to fit a credit card between the ressy and the lid.

    Hey Eddie, the holes are too small? I'll relay this to R&D ASAP. Other people seem to have installed without an issue so please let me know.

    I see now, thank you. Thanks for drilling it out and getting it to work. I'll make sure our team is aware of this, and if anyone else has this issue, please send me a PM!

    Thanks everyone, we can't wait to hear more feedback! As with any brand new product, there might be small hiccups (like these holes being too small for Eddie) but we're here to work through it with you and make sure you're taken care of.

    Mine is supposed to deliver today or tomorrow, will install on the weekend and advise, But, man I’m telling you what, if I experience the same issues, and I have to drill out holes to make it fit and and the air box doesn’t stay latched, etc, I’m gonna be, “disappointed” to put it very mildly. At this price point that’s not okay in my mind.

    I would not be driving around with an air filter housing that does not stay latched.
    These engines have enough issues without adding "dusting the motor" to them.

    Will definitely make contact. About a credit card thickness of space between them at closest point. Doubt it will crack the tank, but if it ever leaks....Toyota will likely use that as an excuse to weasel out of warrantying it.

    If you are not going to send it back you can use safety wire to retain tab. My 2GR camry used to pop a retainer every once in a while when I jumped on it.

    I remember my wife's 07 Camry having a similar issue with one of the latches too. I just took it off, lol. That 2GR sounded mean with an intake kit!

    I wouldn't worry about it if it was just one of 3 latches but this is a single latch setup now with their lid. I'll keep this workaround in mind in case I keep it or cant figure out something else.

    So you just drilled the lid on both sides of the latch and looped the wire?

    Yup ... smallest hole(s) possible to accommadate 0.20 safety wire.

    @BriannaSTILLEN

    I've confirmed the same issues with one other owner. Can we discuss? The adapter plate is water under the bridge, but the loose latch is a deal breaker.

    @awpk03s @PVT Pablo

    I would hold off on installing...just confirmed the same issues I'm having with another guy. Bolt holes too small/not lining up, loose lidS (His pass side was unlatched after a short drive and his driver side unlatches if he taps it like in my vid), pass side lid touching res tank and inaccurate instructions.

    I’ve just done a little more than unboxed so far, noted that my adapter bolt holes are clearly drilled through (after the paint or anodize or whatever coating it has) and don’t look like yours, so that’s good, so I wonder if that’s a fluke, but like you said, no biggie as it’s easily remedied anyway.

    I also took the lid and mounted it on my empty stock bottom, and snapped the latch on. It definitely is not as solid as it needs to be, especially for only using one of them. With very mild jiggling and you can see it loosening before eventually popping open.

    Not sure what the solution should be in the current state. Smaller or more curved latches to hold tighter? A gasket to fit between upper and lower boxes to create a seal/space filler?

    Now certainly there are probably a couple rednecks way to keep the box closed that will work, but I don’t want to do something like that as it’ll probably kill my ability to return or resell if this thing doesn’t work out…

    plus, you do not want dust getting in from a non tight seal

    Wow, that sucks. Hopefully, they make it right. I was actually looking at these a little bit. The bolt holes issue is kind of annoying, but being right against the coolant tank and then not even latching closed to get a good seal is pretty sloppy. Kinda funny, if you go to the intake on their website, a couple of the under hood install pictures actually show the passenger side box unlatched.

    The plates were drilled through on mine, originally....not threaded. The bolts actually cut the threads when I tried to install because the holes were too small.

    It wouldn't introduce dirty air into the motor since the filter is clamped to the adapter plate...loose lid or not, it's gonna get filtered air. It's just a sloppy/poor fit.

    Okay, just for grins, I took my old OE paper filters (I am running TRD’s), and I cut out all of the paper pleats leaving just the foam gasket surround.

    I took off the stock box top and TRD filter, and placed the foam gasket inside, and then placed the Stillen box top on, and latched it, and while it is a little better than before? A light tap on top of the box popped it open again.

    Not good. That rubber is like 3/8" thick? Then maybe it's not the fact that there's a bit of play between the two but the actual pocket where the latch hooks onto?
