I'm with you on high dew points, Minneapolis area can get pretty sticky too. Maybe I'll just come down and float in your pool when it gets sticky here.....

 

You can't change the parameters without changing the code in the ECU. Any change in filter won't tell the ECU take a deep breathe. That why I want one then I don't. I could get Stillen to change my parameters in the Stillen power module I have. For me any CAI is just for looks. Just like a cow skin rug!!!! Maybe I'll try one just maybe.

 

I had that! For me it gained 1-2mpg, but it turned out that was because it was leaning it out so much. They came back with a tube that was a little smaller but still leaned it out so much that the plugs looked so bad that I went back to stock.

 

Oh, man, I had forgot about that one. Too funny.

I, too, was swayed by the K&N advertising BS back in the day. Then I realized the only thing that oiled filter did was cake with dust after about 2 days in my area. Frankly I'm amazed they are still selling that garbage.

Without a tune, aka more fuel and timing, minimal gains. We all buy noisemakers for whatever reason. None of the aftermarket air filters increase airflow enough to throw a lean code. Same with ALL EXHAUST INCLUDING ANY TRD. Apparently the engineers really didn't leave a lot on the table exhaust wise. Only TRD intakes seem to do the trick, so to speak. Piggybacks fool the ECU into thinking boost levels are lower than actual, regardless of brand. They do increase output THE MOST. That said Stillen rushed to market with a Beta product and is doing their best at damage control. If someone did a true A-B test swapping things in and out on a dyno we would know better, but it's easier to make grey area claims and market to the masses. Toyota sells way more Tacomas and those folks live for aftermarket mods, typically younger and the truck is part of their lifestyle, so 10x market.

 

More like trivial or wishful gains.

 

Decided to trust Stillen and Will that they've updated everything and purchased last Friday. Once installed, I'll provide some photos, write-up etc., of the process and whether or not things are resolved, and the system is delivering on its published performance specs.

$500 for nothing but turbo noise with the intake and $650 for a advertised 45 HP max gain with the Tru-control.

Sorry, find it lame Stillen ghosted everyone, and is now back to try and sell their failed intake.

Not trying to be rude, just saying facts. Regardless of whom may have taken over, dropped the ball or whatever excuse Stullen is rolling with…. Like is Stillen corporate was not aware that their product was not fitting properly….
I hope this time it fits properly…

Were you able to receive and install the intakes?

 

I used to that on an old 302 powered 84 Thuderbird. Made that lovely intake sound.

 

Got it last week but with all the rain haven't been able to yet install it as the truck doesn't fit in the garage. Installing it over the weekend and will post then.
