That deck is beautiful. Great job. Excited to see it with a stain. Hopefully it brings out a lot of color and pattern for you!

Thanks Joe. I got a semi transparent rustic brown stain. It'll be dark but I needed some decent pigment to help with UV protection. The deck gets a lot of sun, from morning til aroumd 4 or 5pm in the mid summer. I would have liked to go lighter but didn't want a red hue and clear just wouldn't protect enough.

Well. UV still pulls color so be aware that even if it's a little dark it will let up in a year or so.

Regardless it will look great. There's nothing better than walking out on to a porch and seeing the twists and turns under your feet from some natural wood.

It's been raining every other day here. It's killing me. I really want to get this done.
It rained last night, do you think tomorrow afternoon is ok to stain? It was in the sun all day today and should be tomorrow too.
If not the next day I can do it is Friday which looks like rain. Sucks

It's coming along. Stain is going on easy and very evenly. No overlap marks at all.

Still need to do the top rails on the railings. But it's getting there. And also another coat around some of the vertical surfaces.
Vertical surfaces are done with a semi solid dark brown. Horizontal are Armstrong Clark semi transparent rustic brown. I like the 2 toned look.

Finally did the railings last week. Gave them little sanding so eliminate sharp edges. They came out pretty good.
I did all the vertical surfaces a darker semi solid stain, horzontals are the lighter Armstrong Clark. I like to 2 toned look.

Bought one of these attachments at Home Depot.

Possibly the best money I've spent on home maintenance ever. Unreal how much quicker the job goes with it.

Correct. You should let it dry for 1-3 months. Always pressure wash to remove oils, dirt, mold, etc. Next dry sunny day get it stained. Buy more than enough stain for touchups and re-coating. Good products are Cabot, Sikkens, and I enjoy Sherwins SuperDeck. Use semi transparent. I did mine in 2015 and it lasted 4-5 yrs. Next time we just hired a company because I had other projects ongoing. Search for a deck staining company in your area like https://northcraft-deck-staining-services.com.
