The problem is that the factory wiring isn’t really color coded or clear which one is positive and which one is negative. If you have a multimeter you could turn on your taillights with the assembly out and read the two wires to know for sure and then mark them. I’m running the smoked and I guessed them correctly. But, I should have done what I mentioned above.

Did you happen to order a set and install, and remember in what order the wires were connected? Or anybody else for that matter?

Attempted earlier and blew the 10 amp STOP fuse. I only had 1 fuse in my tool box so I reassembled my OEM tails until I get a bunch more from the auto store. The directions are garbage from Spyder. The 2 pictures they provided don’t show the correct wiring, and their YouTube install doesn’t mention it either.

Not to mention, the color of the OEM wiring isn’t very helpful either. If I recall, you’re only dealing with two wires that could be reversed so you can probably just flip those.

Popped the smoked red Spyders in today without blowing a fuse again. Took a couple pics for anybody in the future that had my problem the other day. The bottom picture I took is kinda hard to see the trucks wiring. Just match the green from the light to the truck wiring and should be good to go.

Also found out that if you have a LED reverse light, it will cause the blinkers to hyper flash, so I put my original halogen bulbs back in with success.

One of the main reasons I would consider this is so I could have brighter LED backup lights.

Does this upgrade provide this? Or is there a hyperflash issue?

Hyper flash issue with LEDs. I purchased some Lasfit led reverse bulbs and caused it unfortunately. I wanted brighter reverses too. swapped back to stock and it went away.

That's nice, exactly what I'm looking for, kinda annoys me that we have such a cool front end then get stuck with wacky halogen tails.

Thanks! I am glad I purchased it. I went with the “red smoke.”

Just got done installing mine - red smoke. This post was super helpful to get the wires matched up. No blown fuses.

So after a couple weeks of driving now, I'm getting hyperflashing with my turn signals. I've only noticed it specifically when my headlights are on, I'm braking, and have the turn signal on.

Anyone else have this issue? Any solutions? I've also reached out to Spyder and the retailer I purchased from to see if they have any suggestions as these should be plug and play.

Did you ever resolve this? I resolved mine a few weeks back after checking all the fuses again and found I had a 40 amp fuse blown under the hood. I had the exact same issues as you when hitting the brakes, headlights on, and turn signal on. Reinstalled the taillights and all is good now.

I did not, I reached out to spyder and they sent me new resistors. I put those on and now it's hyperflashing all the time. I'll give my fuses a look and see if that resolves it. Thank you

another question for you… did you ever do the recall for the turn signal brightness? The techs would’ve repinned the front turn signal adaptors…

I just did the recall and it was doing the hyperflash like stated in posts above. After checking all fuses and the wires in the taillights, I ended up “undoing” the recall and repinning the adaptors myself.

I don't recall that one being done on my truck off the top of my head.

I ended up switching back to the old resistors that were originally in the taillights and it went back to the same issues where it will hyperflash sometimes. I checked all my fuses as well and didn't see any blown ones.

What do you mean by what you did? You reversed the recall and then made another change to your front turn signals? Do you have just the stock LED headlights?

the recall was essentially moving one wire over in the harness. The attached video in the link, post #67 shows what the Toyota Tech will do when performing the recall. I just moved the wire back to the middle spot. It works all good now
Think I found the solution to the dim front turn signals on 18+

I'll try and take a look and see if can tell if they're flipped. Appreciate all the help.

I have the Spyder red smoked taillights on my 2020 Tundra and still have my left turn signal only hyper flash when applying the brakes. I saw others post about this same problem, did anyone ever find a solution? 2nd set of Spyders and same issue.
