The only reason I actually looked into this thread is I recently saw a post on a facebook group where someone actually did swap sides/flip them upside down!

I had SPC on the 4runner and loved the adjustability but if the installer doesn't understand how they work....good luck.

Edit: to the OP, looks normal to me!

I've seen at least one post where they were mixed up as in wrong side, but not upside down. You would have to press out the ball joints and reinstall the opposite direction. I'm just not comprehending that but not disputing it either....ha

The ball joints on SPC are just one big nut so they easily come off. They may even ship unassembled? The hardware doesn't fit upside down which is where the other guy got confused on the extra parts and why his upper ball joints were so sloppy lol. There's a pocket (to collect mud) on the top and the bottom has a slot for the star plate. Pretty neat really. Torque that sucker down with some red loctite for sure.

If you don’t want to use spacers then get new wheels with the proper offset. You’re achieving the same end result. Or don’t put on bigger tires.

The problem doesn't appear to be with your UCAs or alignment, it just looks like your wheels have too much positive offset for your setup.
If you want to run a lift and UCAs and bigger tires then wheel offset will need to be a factor in everything fitting correctly.
If you don't want to run spacers that's your call, but if you had no intention of running +18 or +25 offset wheels then you can expect some rubbing on the UCA.

Why don't you want to use spacers? I'm running 1" spacers with SPC UCAs on 285/65/20s with plenty of room.

1- dont want my wheels sticking out a mile.
    2. local shop that says they are a weak point and not good for long term durability.
    3. The whole reason i bought what i did was trying to do things right. Spend once , cry once as others have said.
    4. I will buy wheels if it will fix problem or return to stock.

1" spacers will not make your wheels stick out by a mile. I don't like that look either. Picture attached.

I understand you're upset but don't get too upset about this. It's a solvable problem. If this was a 350 truck I would agree that you don't want spacers. I don't have issues with them on these trucks. If you're considering new wheels anyway - go that route.

You're still in the buy once cry once phase. This is part of the deal.

No need to call anyone or take it back to the shop. Your suspension is done right. Your problem lies with your wheel/tire choice.
Even on stock suspension, if you put wider/taller tires on stock wheels you'll run into issues with rubbing, which is why folks do lifts and different wheels.

    To address your concerns:
    1. Your wheels will stick out about the same whether you go with a +25 wheel or a 1" - 1 1/4" spacer. Stock is +60 - +25 = 35mm difference. Stock at +60 - 1" (25.4mm) = 34.6mm. Stock at +60 - 1 1/4" (31.75mm) = 28.25.
    2. The debate on wheel spacers is a huge one, but if you stick with BORA or Spidertrax you'll be fine. Plenty of folks running them with zero issues. Properly installed they are no more or less weak than your wheel or hub.
    3. Doing things right is a good path, but you have to complete the equation, which includes the right wheel offset for the tire size you're wanting to go with.
    4. Wheels with the correct offset, or spacers to create the same offset on your stock wheels, should get you the clearance you need for the tire size you're installing.

The lower the offset number the further out it will stick. Your stock wheels would be +50 or +60 IIRC. A +25 wheel will poke out a little, where as anything +0 or even in the negatives will push the wheels out further.

Keep in mind, using spacers or offset to push the wheels out may result in some rubbing on the front air dam or the mud flaps. That will depend heavily on your tire size, too.

I would swap the wheels. I don't see this as the shops fault, they installed what was purchased. You're not the first person to run into issues changing the uppers with stock wheels. Methods come with a 0 or +25 I believe. Check the forum for pics but I prefer the +25, they'll stick out a little but not an obnoxious amount.

Moving the wheels out to accommodate what you have is going to expose you to more debris. Just the way it works when you start moving a vehicle outside of it's stock specifications and equipment. You could add flares to protect the sides etc., but that adds the issue of paint wear under the flares. As the saying goes "You gotta pay to play."

they ordered the dang tires, and said it would all fit, put i like 17 inch wheels with more tread, heard it helps with the ride. so maybe that is the solution, so plus 25 offset , what does backspace mean? Since i have change the suspension, stock charts wont work online to see what fits.

Before you do anything else I'd take it to the tire shop and have them install one tire and test fit. You never know, it may fit just fine and you'll be done. I wouldn't spend anymore money or change anything until you at least do a test fit with what you have.
If you're going with a 1" taller tire, only half of that will be above the centerline of the wheel, and it looks like you have some room there.
