Same issue...in addition, the volume was considerably lower when listening to satellite vs FM....never renewed my subscription

^ I have the volume problem and have to remember to turn it down before I listen to Johnny Dare in the morning on FM.

My undersatnding is this is caused by XM not being broadcast in stereo and only broadcast in mono.

I think it depends a lot on where you live. seems that the higher latitudes have crappier reception. I've driven many a rental car and had satellite in my tundra, and a highlander, and it was always losing connection. It was half the reason i never subscribed. The other being the awful audio compression.
I'm in the Puget sound area, around 45 degrees north.

How well does SiriusXM work in the boonies where there is no FM reception or cell service?

Just got back from a long road trip and got me thinking.

In my Tundra Ryan it doesn’t do well at all but when I had the external dock in there the reception was better but the sound was worse!!
