frame modifications can cause issues with insurance and inspection. Can quickly total a truck out for a basic crossmember cut for a bracket lift

What?? Never heard of this ever happening and have been around off roading my entire life. That does not mean just because I have not heard of it before it is not true but I am curious to get some real life examples of this happening.

Cross member cut I “FULLY” understand that which is why I do not have one although I want another 1” of lift but I am maxed out with the icon suspension

Happened to my buddy's 08ish Duramax. He got hit in the ass but it only damaged the bumper and bedside. Frame was good, but had a subframe cut for a 7" lift. Insurance totalled it, he bought it back and put a flatbed on it.

Not saying a few holes for sliders will total it, but with insurances these days it's always a possibility.

In VA we have to do an annual state inspection (pain in the ass scam) and I haven’t had any issues with my frame being drilled. The holes are filled with bolts

Any Toyota recalls on the frame too. That would be my worry.

    I'm running RCI, bolt on.

Depend on where you're at in SoCal, Ryan (IronRyno Fabrication) @shmellmopwho
Makes a great set. He will even install them at his house. 1F068506-1C69-4DEE-90A4-3A12108AAEB9.jpg IMG_20230902_100846_01.jpg 51F70F68-A223-4E14-B94E-744A88DC051E.jpg

Sooooo it sounds like it was a good thing? I wouldn't mind your buddy's scenario on my truck at all. For some reason tiny cars like to tailgate and disappear behind me.

Doesn’t get cheaper or easier cleanup / touch up.

Cruz, have you been to Moab? Trying to figure out if I can run Hells Gate in a few weeks with no locker…

Yes, I have. As long as you're not trying to do any of the obstacles, you'll be fine. Hella traction on those rocks.

Definitely staying out of the hot tubs and the escalator but wanted to run through Hells Gate.

It's doable. Seen a stock Tundra do it on YT. Problem with that is it's easy to lift a wheel off the ground. As long as your spotter knows to keep your passenger side straddling the side wall, then you'll be good.

I brought mine unprimed from https://metaltech4x4.com/
They had one of their specials ... lowered price and free shipping some years ago.
Three mounts per slide side to install.
I POR-15 them and are they strong as I lifted the front of my truck from the rear of the slider using utility farm jack to work on the rear tire.

I went down the rabbit hole and ordered a set of RCI skids with cat guards too. I saw it in the cat theft thread and it happened to be on sale. Someone stop me!

I ordered on July 3rd and still don't have them. They're not answering calls, emails, or texts. If these damn companies did just a little bit of customer service, they would sell a lot more stuff.

Weird from RCI. There packaging of the appropriate hardware is known issue however, they are usually quite good with customer service. I hope this gets resolved soon!

Sorry, forgot to mention that I am waiting for Demello sliders. My RCI skids came right away, and they were super responsive to questions.
