    Exactly!

I remember the very next day after I got the truck when I got in I put the keys in the cup holder & was like "ok how do I start this thing? where' the button?" haha

yep bank account is running low from it..
5904v is no longer made it was replaced with 5906v really no difference just the remote.. 5706 v the only difference is the remote the brains are the same ;).

The way the smart start module works it plugs into the D2D port of the brain. D2d port, services two things one is remote start via cell tower, other is bitwriter programmer to program the brain faster during install.

Vss5000 will work it just doesnt have GPS part ( thats a whole unit your looking at) dsm 200 (smart cell module) if you want Gps ( vsm250)..

Imo: get the 2 way alarms. one way is trash trust me.

Thats one nice feature you dont have to be near your car for it to start. The app confirms to you the engine is RUNNING.

How hard is it into install depends on level of 12v. With your truck you will need a bypass kit for the transponder. just a fyi there. Most trucks your taking btw 20 to 40 wires to hook up and splice into. Tach to door locks parking lights of course plus engine power.

For the smart start module you cant do it yourself a dealer must do it or one that you know personally that can activate it. Most will not allow you to buy it from Amazon or ebay and turn it on ( your cutting there throats and profit) . I had a friend who had access to it and turned mine on for free. If you want to do it yourself call a viper dealer locally see if they can set your account up for you with your air -id number some will some will not.

Not hard at all if you let a car audio/accessory shop do it for you. I paid $100 to have it installed. Not bad to have it done right.

Just purchased the viper smart start system today from bestbuy. Didn't get the 2 way key fob, no need too just saved a couple hundred bucks on that and bought an apple watch !! Once the new viper 4.0 software comes for the watch I can use that as my alerts. The whole set up was $450ish installed and tax at best buy. Thanks guys for the recommendation of viper

yeah on the site it mentioned early 2015, I think we are past that now. Hopefully soon, I know apple should be releasing the watches in 2 weeks at the store. Mine is on order and it's about 3 weeks out. So I'm hoping 3 rd quarter this year

Wait, lemme see if I have this right. You say that you saved a couple hundred dollars by not getting the fob, so you could buy a five hundred dollar watch?

When directed did the last upgrade it was about a year late on smartstart end. It might be live in October tho the units themselves dont need a firmware upgrade like mine for the new features they added.

    $349 watch
    -$100 key fob
    -$120 fit bit
$129 is what I would be looking at paying for the watch if you look st it from that angle.

I have the viper 5706 2way. It's been great and is light years ahead of the Toyota remote start. My friend has the Toyota RM and is has horrible range and turns off when you hit unlock. There no excuse for this from Toyota. It's an inferior product period. Go with the Viper and don't look back.

My PRO did not have the toyota remote start so I am getting the viper 5806v with smartphone module installed on monday. 429 for the remorse start and security, 250 for smartphone, 679 out the door. I travel a lot for work and my truck may sit at the airport for a week at a time so it is worth it for me to have the piece of mind to be able to check on it at will.

I have the sister 5904v on both my trucks tacoma and tundra both have gps module. Its a good system. I have had mine close to three years with gps other year before that without gps. Never really had any problems with it. Dont hold your breathe on 4.0 on there web site for it I say fall ths year.

the battery alarm is nice but when that trips I hate to say it your stuck. Not enough amps to start the engine. Opps

It does comfirm to you that the engine is running and you can see doors locked and few other features in the app.

My biggest concern was the interface between the viper system and oem components. Anything glitchy afterwards? I've heard horror stories like you said about not being able to start your truck.

If the install is done correctly you will never have a problem. I did mine (mecp here from along time ago) and it just works. Only thing that tricky is bypass for the transponder in your key but they have a not fault on that too in learning the code.

Since I installed mine its been forgotten I dont know how many times, its there and when I ask to start it starts and never had no start fault to do the unit failing to start the engine.

Most of what you hearing is people who I bet installed in on there own and have NO IDEA how remote start works or transponder works in the car.

:)Love mine ! It's been 2 weeks. The only thing I should have done but didn't know I had the option to was setting the run time longer. It's set at 12 minutes in believe default. I need to have them change it to 45 min. summers in Houston I need the ac running longer than 12 minutes
