    Short answer: No.

    My shop ghosted me...
I ordered everything with the same shop I had done wheels and tires, as well as CB shims and shackles. I waited a couple weeks, and nothing. I called and got a " oh yeah yeah yeah, they are on the way.". And then radio silence. I called month after month only to get the secretary saying "I'll tell him you called...." And no call back. About 6 months went by and I just got too busy, and fed up. I found another shop, but I just lost interest in pursuing it due to the difficulty coordinating time to get there and get back and avoiding improper break-in (new shop was 2 hours away). I then had surgery and that sidelined everything right up until Co-vid. I talked to Nitro gear again about the shop and they said they had heard similar recent incidents referring to that shop. Unfortunately I am no longer able to afford doing the mod at this time because of Co-vid. I haven't been able to work this year, which puts a damper on mod money!

That's too bad to hear, but the good thing is you had the money still when needed for other things!

I did the Revolution gears without the bearings, truck had less than 20,000 on it and if you are careful and have the right tools you can reuse the old bearings. Without beer and a gun to my head I can have the rear punkin out in a 1/2 hr and the front in less than 1 1/2.

Posting here mainly for the ability to find this thread later. On the 20th I will be getting the Nitro 5.29's with a Powertrax LSD unit installed. My math came up with 4.967 for gearing. According to Keith @ Dirty Deeds, he likes the Powertrax as a better option to the Auburn and a FAR cheaper option than the Eaton E-Locker. I'm running a 2020 TRD Sport with 37" Cooper STT PRO tires on 20x10 -12 wheels. What little time I have spent on the highway has been very frustrating. The truck is always searching for a gear and spends a lot of time in 3rd, 4th, & 5th trying to hold 70 mph. It only goes into 6th when going downhill & as soon as the road levels out drops back to 5th. So far the best average mpg I have attained is 11.6, and only once in 3300 miles. Mostly getting 9.9 or less combined driving.

I went from 285/70/17 to 35s.... huge difference. I was going from 280miles to the tank to 190, mostly 180 miles to the tank with the 35s. All I want is MORE CLEARANCE! Lol!

Just curious, do you drive aggressive? My last couple tanks I've been avg 16mpg, and I have skinny 35s and around couple hundred lbs of stuff in the bed all the time, I also don't drive gently.

I feather that pedal now since the 35s. I just filled a full tank just now so I’ll double check my MPGs. But I’m sure I average 11 MPGs.

I have a 17 trd pro added coachbuilder +3 shackles and I added 35's KM3's. I just bought a 30ft travel trailer weights about 10k lbs. Thinking of adding airbags and was told to look into regear to 488. What will the regear help with?

Regearing changes the amount of torque going to your tires. More torque = more force applied to the ground. Increasing the size of your tires has the opposite effect, and decreases the amount of force going to the ground. An analogy would be you're driving around in 2nd gear, if you increase tires it's like being in 3rd gear where the truck has to work harder, and being regeared is like being in 1st gear where the engine is revved up more but pulls a lot harder. Regearing will decrease stress on the engine and transmission and driveshafts since the higher ratio gears are increasing the mechanical advantage multiplier in the differential. Less stress, more torque to pull your trailer and accelerate, however it runs about $4k and you have to regear both the front and rear differentials.

on my 07 I have 315/70R17's and I don't think I need to regear at all. It has plenty of power and the transmission hardly searches for gears. Even towing my TT which weighs around 5k fully loaded, it does awesome. I guess I could regear but right now I don't think the benefit outweighs the cost.

That's a lot of money. Do you think my tundra will have issues pulling a 10k lbs trailer with the bigger tires? Will my transmission fail quicker?

How big of tires? I've seen guys towing with 37s fine, transmission should be fine as long as you stick with regular maintenance.

My tires are 35's. I seen post about transmission oil cooler is that something that would benefit the transmission running cooler oil?

BFGs are on the small side for 35"s.

FYI: there is a group buy on tworld forum right now. was quoted $2100 for re-gearing 5.29 or 4.88. Includes master kit. front and rear 4x4. Labor/parts included. In SoCal. Hard to beat imo.

This is a very cheap price. I am getting gears and lockers installed tomorrow and they are going to need my truck for two full days. The gears and install kits alone were nearly $1800, granted the gears are Motiv and the install kits are Yukon.

yeah some people driving from out of state for the group buy.
this is the second one they are doing. They did 150 ish tacomas on the first run.
3 to 4 hours per truck looks like.

What shop is doing the group buy? I recently did mind back in June at Premier West Gears in Riverside. For the record, I did 5.29 Revolution gears for the fact that they are quieter than Nitro. I have 35' tires and don't really tow anything heavy. Although I didn't go with 5.29 for better gas mileage, I was hoping for an improvement and got nothing out of them. Lot's of nice power though. A part of me feels I should have gone with 4.88.

Hmm...for some reason I thought Nitro and Revolution gears were manufactured at the same facility.
    What size tires?

Yep, read a few comments on here that Revolutions were quieter and the guys at the shop told me the same. 35 inch tires and only tow a utility trailer with ATV's. I initially experienced a whine when decelerating, but that's gone now. No noise coming from gears.
